Dear Mr. Coats and Mr. Naito - Game Over

It should be about Eisai's future not OB's. Real leaders take the blame and give the credit – not the other way around. Long story short; if a leader receives a vote of non-confidence from their subordinates…game over.

Leadership is solving problems. Colin Powell said it the best when he stated that "the day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership".

There is no trust or respect for OB within the sales force. Communication does not exist because of the ack of trust.

It is time for action for the sake of Eisai and its people. The folks who lost confidence in OB are not crazy lunatics. They are among the most successful individuals within the Eisai's family. They are among the top performers. OB has been a failed and expensive experience and it is time to end this mistake.

You use a Colin Powell quote to support your point? Colin Powell is the self proclaimed conservative who then decided to support a far left piece of trash just because he's black. Actions are far more impactful than words. Colin's actions said "all I care about is supporting the black man"

I am sorry if I may offended you. It was not my intention to insert any political view into this conversation. I used Colin Powell's word of wisdom in regard to the leadership traits for his military background not any of his current or past political view. As you know, Colin Powell has served as one of our top miitary leaders under Presidents Reagan, Bush Sr. Clinton, and Bush Jr.

Please let's focus on the bigger picture here. Regards.

The best leaders are fluid and flexible in their approach. They understand the power of, and necessity for contextual leadership. OB's “my way or the highway” leadership styles don’t play well in today’s world. It is already proven that it resulted in the current Eisai's fractured culture and non-productive sales organization. The next VP of sales should think open-source not proprietary, surrender not control, and collaborate not dictate.

Great quote to support your point and dead on. I stopped giving suggestions because I've given up. It's time to move on for sure.

And what difference does it all make? The whole company is crap - R&D, marketed products, senior management, corporate reputation. Fixing Sales would be kind of like giving someone a manicure who's in the ICU.

I tend to agree with you. However, OB around here has become a symbol for "getting away with murder". If he leaves, the whole floodgate wil open for many many more to leave. It is a vicious cycle. Firing OB would be a good start.
