Dear Boehringer Family

Way back when (prior to go to market), Boehringer was the company to be at. I honesty felt like you cared about your employees. Low turnover, decent IC payouts, a evolving pipeline...HELL, people stayed so low, to get a specialty job was damn near impossible because no one left!
Lets fast forward to today. Since GTM, the culture in this company has progressively gotten worse. You go ahead and hire senior leaders from big bad public pharma..they implement their old strategies that failed with their previous company, it fails here, they leave and you hire another big wig..and the cycle continues.
Yet, a good portion of your original employees stayed because we LIKED working for BI and hope that its just a glitch in the BI Matrix. We were wrong.
I cannot speak for all the field based employees but I've been with this company long enough to speak for a very good handful of them, in that if they haven't left already, they are firing up their C.V's. Between IC structures that no-one can understand (you have too many hands in the IC pot!), metrics that I feel like justify someones job at the BRC, S2S requirements (what happened to being customer centric and meeting them where they are and how they want to be communicated with?), Axonify (the answer is always Omnichannel) where its not a learning platform as its the same line of questions EVERY SINGLE DAY, then last but certainly not least our Goals.
You have built these goals that again, no one can truly explain but also are so out of touch and reach. Just when reps feel like they are finally getting their head above water, you blast us with goals (mind you well into the quarter) that take the top reps and knock them down to the bottom in the course of 2 weeks. Im sure you factored in seasonality too right?? I'm not so sure. All this, while we are working with new alliance partners who are either as green as the day is bright or on the brink of retiring and just need a paycheck...and tell US to help train them! (again in July) ...
Funny how it gets released AFTER the announcement of Bidens Reduction Act bill..you knew it was coming ... sent us numerous emails to reach out to our government prior to the announcement. So are our goals sky high because you need to keep senior leadership well paid? realized you needed to scale back on the bonus for the field force..your meal tickets.
That global survey should have been enough to wake you up but obviously it has fallen on deaf ears. I would love another survey..think of it as a touch point to see how well you have tried to Empower us. I bet you will find that nothing has changed.
Boehringer, LISTEN TO YOUR PEOPLE.

This letter is cute. You cite G2M and the start of the decline. That’s when I left. I made $250k on one days gains on Wall Street with my company stock the other day.

The B family doesn’t give a shit about you or their washed up products. They’re dinosaurs and so is the sales model. The future is behind you. You should have left a while ago. But better late than never.

BI Is a part of the Pharma Matrix; family owned but an elite family that hob knobs with other Pharma CEO's AND more succinctly adhere's to the W H O's dictations (THEY ALL DO). So you can fire up them resumes however if for another Pharma company you're getting one and the same.

Thank you to the person who wrote this post. You are SPOT ON. I have been trying to explain why I’m so unhappy and borderline depressed working at BI to my significant other and haven’t been able to articulate it very well. I am just going to read this post out loud because it is exactly how I feel. I thought that survey would be the start of change and it did nothing. This is the worst culture I have ever experienced in my life and everyone I know is extremely unhappy at BI. The metrics have pushed me over the edge. I feel beat down and exhausted.

I lost 40% of my bonus payout because of an ”error in the file”, but I’m not allowed to see where the error was.

I'm really disappointed in senior leadership. I already know of three people leaving after Q3 payouts because they keep screwing with our IC.
Has anyone ever had success hiring an attorney? I have no issues being accountable for my performance. It’s just hard to be accountable for a baseline that the company refuses to provide.

Our IC department is a joke! They have immunity for their incompetence and no accountability or oversight! We can only hope they will leave BI for one of the new IRS positions. Perfect fit!

Couldn’t agree more with OP. I am in Mid South region, and was thinking I’ve never seen moral this low in over 25 years of pharma. I can’t speak for other regions, but our leader is obnoxiously concerned about metrics that have nothing to do with selling. Our feedback means nothing. It’s like working for a dictator .

The irony is: the best liars are the ones who get rewarded and recognized for the metric game. Just keep cheating the system. Give them what they want!
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

The head of our IC Amy Robicheaux is an absolute moron. Ever since she took over a couple of years ago the IC has been a joke. Ever have a conversation with her about IC? She can’t answer basic questions. She has no accountability and any other company would have fired her by now.

I lost 30%. This is insane. This company can say whatever they want and will not back it up with proof. They dont give a shit. Guess what I dont either. Im done busting my ass and the metrics. These people are out of their minds. The suggestions repeat the same shit over and over. Competent reps should know their #s they should know what they need to do. Instead of sucking up your mistake on ic and eat your loss you spend money on that type of crap. What the hell happened to this company. Its miserable.

I lost 20%. Yet not a word from corporate..leave the dirty work to the managers. The words wealthiest private Pharma family could afford to eat the cost! (Wishful thinking I know)

they have too many people on the department with their pet projects for their development plan and create monstrosity of a IC structure. So much so few can actually explain how these goals are even made! It leaves a huge amount of room for error..and viola!
