DCS vs OCS Position

Already here on the educator team, looking at a move to either a DCS or OCS as both are/will be available near me. OCS on paper would be an upgrade in a few ways, but what is your opinion on the future of these roles? Pipeline looks solid for both, larger geography for the OCS being solo but maybe fewer targets overall. Thoughts?

OMG, OCS for sure! Our pipeline is obesity including future collaborations. Icodec won't be out for a while and when it does what payer will cover it when all other insulin is lower cost, and layers don't pay for convenience. All the science is showing that the missing gap in diabetes is weight loss. People are open to learning about obesity it diabetes anymore. Only benefit to dcs is that payers will cover diabetes drugs but hold out for obesity drugs. We stopped doing research on diabetes drugs a long time ago but still doing that for obesity.
Look at all the other companies. They're not going for diabetes indications for their GLP combo drugs. All going for obesity.

Personally looking into OCS. Specialty, superior pipeline, more excitement/buzz, larger territory w/ more selection, etc. But could easily see us repping both in a few years like Lilly.

Long-time DCS here. Depends on your geography and the manager. There are a few openings near me for OCS but most of us won't apply for it because of the latter. Outside of those two factors OCS is probably a smarter move in terms of the pipeline over the next 1-2 years, although our combo for diabetes has an enormous potential as well.

LOL! thanks for the chuckle. man those field suggestions just do not stop coming, do they. One of the worst parts of my Monday
The internet could crash, there could be no battery in your computer, and those fucking field suggestions would spell themselves out in dripping blood letters like a horror movie just to get to you. There heeere!!!!

:p Ha!! Or on the bathroom mirror when the shower steam hits it... " You have 147 new field suggestions"

Anyone know the pay range for a DCS role? I have 10 years experience. Thanks so much.
Pretty big range, depending on experience. Generally would give you a bump up from your current salary and comp. There would be different levels ( i.e., 1, 2, Sr., etc) within the DCS umbrella. As competitive and crazy as our world is, it is still a great place to be for now! :)
To give you some perspective, Lilly is our biggest competitor in this space and they are gearing up for a potential big layoff.

Three new hires I personally know all got 135.00 base. Two with Diabetes experience, one I am not sure. All three greater than 15 years in pharma, had speciality too, big geographies disliked the travel. Two of the three kinda regret coming here. They are shocked at how the culture is a little weird, and really just want to work without the drama. Hope that helps you and your decision. All three hires were in the last 2.5 years too btw.

That is a very high base, but believable if they were already in specialty roles and top performers etc.
