Data Manipulation?

Hello, newbie here .

Do pharma companies like GSK manipulate numbers and how well certain territories perform?

I’ve seen many examples of territories that performed poorly all last year that are doing really well so far in 2023.

Likewise, I’m seeing territories that did well last year and so far are performing pretty bad this year.

It’s not like these people forgot how to sell over night or suddenly figured it out and started changing shit up and found a golden ticket to selling. So… leads me to believe our territory data is decided for us as to how well it will perform. What say ye’?

Yes, it is. Two years ago, I worked on the comp team to develop a base pay and the bonus structure for the following year. The model proposed was suggested that we not use because the data is flawed. The management team went with the plan because overall it reduced the amount of bonus by 14%. I was told by the team that upper management does not care and maybe the lower pay representatives would just leave and not wait of a package on the next downsizing. The goal is for the sales team to think they can earn a great commission check, but GSK does control the number. Thats why the representatives can get a Cadillac as a company car - make em feel they are valued but management doesn't really care about you.

This is an accurate summary and is well known within our organization.

Pharma has done this for decades. I remember a time when DMs divided the district goal up according to metrics, not total possible volume. One year you are a champ, next year a chump. Looks like nothing has changed.

Any company is going to pay you what they want to pay you when they want to pay you. The bonus system is an incentive system. Its for the company not the employee. Think about it. The only thing fair about it is your base salary. Best to all.

I worked for an RVP in the east who told sales managers that nothing other than the ranking of #1 is what was expected. The RVP was awarded RVP of the year a few years in a row.
The following year he was canned because he was asking the managers to remove providers from territories that were negatively impacting goals.
The manager who ratted him out was the lowest ranked manger in the region.

The manipulation of the numbers has been going on ever since we had numbers to go by. It has also lead to a $3 billion dollar fine from The USDOJ in 2012, Patient First, Testing and the compliance hot line. If you know of malfeasance, your best is to document everything and get quality Qui Tam Council. The compliance hotline is for suckers, and only protects the company from liability. The company has been dirty for decades, and looks like nothing has changed.

Hello, newbie here .

Do pharma companies like GSK manipulate numbers and how well certain territories perform?

It’s not like these people forgot how to sell over night or suddenly figured it out and started changing shit up and found a golden ticket to selling. So… leads me to believe our territory data is decided for us as to how well it will perform. What say ye’?

HA!!!!........ Is the Pope Catholic? of course they do! all it takes is to apply a factor in the sales system that measures the territories.......don't be so naive!

Yes! True! Nothing has changed. Old GSK reps that we jettisoned long ago continue to troll this site. Get a life! LOSER!
