Dark Shadows

Great show! I used to watch it when I was younger. As a matter of fact, it was on everyday at 4pm. Back then it was considered a 'dark' soap opera of sorts.

A show I really liked as a kid . . . I may buy the DVD series to watch it again.

Barnabas Collins was a great character and played very well by Jonathan Frid.

Does anyone else remember Dark Shadows?

Used to try and race home from Catholic School to watch it. My mom watched it every day. Barnabas was awesome. I was always a Victoria fan. She gave me a special feeling down there, but I was too young to know what it was about. Remember when he bricked in Reverend Trask at the old house (alive), for burning Victoria at the stake? It kind of got squirrely at the end though. The Sci-Fi channel used to play them every day when they first started out.

The series is available on DVD? What a great gift idea. This was on right when school got out and like many of you, my Mom watched it every day. She was never big on TV except this one show! Her birthday is in a couple weeks and this would be great! How long has it been available (so do I need to check to see if she already has it?).

How did you remember the plots? I can't remember them today. Wow.
My favorite next to Barnabas was David Selby - who played Quentin. He was hot back then.

I remember racing home from school to watch Star Trek. I also remember being a kid and getting to stay up late with my mom to watch Creature Features. LOL we would make popcorn and sit right in front of our ONE TV at like midnight. Vincent Price as Dr. Phibes was my favorite. It was such a scary show they just could not have it on earlier! Hard to believe what we watch today and how loose the standards. I would hate to have little kids at home in this day and age.

Remember the old Twilight Zone?
That was a bizarre series! There was another crazy show way back then called "Land of the Giants".

It's funny how the standards years back were so different, yet so simple, and we found those shows fascinating. I also watched every episode of the old Star Trek series. Great show! Captain Kirk was the biggest sleeze in space. lol

Fast forward to a few years ago, William Shatner was in Boston Legal, in an equally sleezy, but comedic role. Love him.

This is the best part of New Year's day for me:

OK, looked into buying this as a gift. Did you know there are about 26 sets of DVDs at about $50 each? I found complete boxed sets of something like 1300 episodes for reasonable prices but not of the sites selling these were places I knew were reputable and one had a very questionable statment about things in the public domain, leading me to believe the stuff was pirated. That's a lot of a series!
