Dallas, TX Jobs

I have been reading through the postings on this thread and am in awe of all of the negativity surrounding employment with this company. I completely understand the cut-throat side of sales and honestly,I am very driven and motivated to succeed. I have applied for a position in the Dallas, Texas area and was hoping there is someone on this thread that has experience in this territory.

Can anyone provide any insight on the DM, what the doctors are like here, what the starting salary is, other benefits that come with the job (paid medical benefits? laptop? cell phone? car? gas? insurance?). If provided a car, can you negotiate to have then give you a car allowance so you can drive your current vehicle? Do doctors here take your dinner offers?

I know most of you are unhappy in your position, but I like the challenge and know I will be successful. I have spoken with reps at other companies and they have said to put in a year at WC and start applying to the other companies. From what I have read on these threads, it sounds like having WC on your resume is a huge eye sore, but I have been told otherwise. Just trying to get some answers. Thank you for your help in advance.

Read every single company board, on Cafe Pharma, and you will see nothing but "this conmpany sucks"; it is the worst". This is 100% fact, so dont get caught up on the WC comments. People use this board to complain, and gossip only, nothing else. Lastly, you appear to not currently be a pharma employee. no experience. There are literally tens of thousands of unemployed drug reps. Your chances of entry were unlikely 5 years ago, and virtually impossible today. Why would a company hire someone inexperienced, when there are so many desperate experienced people who actually know what they are doing. On the other hand, Warner Chilcott hires close to 50% of its reps, with no pharma experience. The moral to the story is if you are trying to break into the industry, Warner Chilcott is almmost your only chance.

Thank you for the rapid reply. You are correct, I don't currently have any experience in Pharma, but I do have 5 years of outside sales experience with a fortune 500 company where I was selling in the top 10% of all reps. My office was closed at the end of 2011, and I along with 550 others were laid off. This was not a layoff made due to performance, rather a complete realignment of the company. So to answer your question, yes, I would love to get into Pharma. I am am passionate about my job and will strive to always be the best in my company. It's sad that there are so many people out there that have no passion for what they do. I came from a VERY tough, cut-throat company where things were REALLY negative for about six months, but I made the best of it and kicked butt! I went out with a bang!

Salary - $55ish
Car - Ford Taurus, company pays for all gas, insurance, etc. You may $80 per month for tax purposes
Cell - $50 per month expensed
Medical - excellent excellent coverage
laptop - WC provides a tablet

This company is churn and burn, you could be top of the stacks in B2B but you can't expect that same "sales acumen" to translate in pharma. Most reps stay no longer than a year. If you get an offer, take the job but be looking for something else immediately. Good luck!

If you're smart you'll find another another industry to start your new career. Pharma isn't what it used to be and its definitely not a career job. If you're simply looking for a couple years of employment. . . jump on in, but don't expect it to boost your resume.
