I've been to Japan and the word "Daiichi" is very commonly used in a variety of commerce.
There is a tour bus company in Japan called "Daiichi", and NO it is NOT owned by DSI.
"First" or "Number One" is the best translation to English.
"ichi" = 1 (one) "dai" prefix = superlative
Daiichi Sankyo has no involvement with nuclear power whatsoever.
Otherwise Bill McLean or Rick Parrish would have told us so.
Fukushima Daiichi Reactor = Fukushima #1 Reactor
If DSI stock is tumbling, it's because Japan, in general, is on it's heels from quake/tsunami.
