CV Reorg is Done. What are you left with?

Just when you thought leadership couldn’t screw up a reorg but they did. Relying on ZS Assoc to place people based on computer driven maps—what a joke. So who is accountable for this… the salesforce? You continue to blame the salesforce for one of the worst launches in pharma history. What a circus!!!

My first priority right now is finding a new job. Use this shit hole to get you into a better situation. I can’t think of one reason why anyone would want to remain here now. But get ready because senior management is going to start the cheerleading with all the typical bullshit nonsense that they say after something like this. Don’t buy into it or fall for any of it. Get out on your own terms.

There will be another layoff when Entresto goes generic. I was retained this round, but don’t expect it to last very long. Been here a long time now though and want the severance package and would qualify for the enhanced 55 plus package which includes healthcare until Medicare eligible. Will ride this out. If you’re young and actually want to have a fulfilling career, get out.

They just kicked the layoff can to next year. So many people are celebrating today while we basically were just given 365 more days to look for our next job. These leaders just keep messing everything up.

Accountability is a bad word at Novartis.

So- what are we left with now? I was retained but my region looks like it went through a shredder and was taped together by our toddler.

the best abl both in peer respect & performance was displaced and replaced by 2 over zealous pcp abls. Reps who won presidents club multiple times have been displaced. Territories with successful buy & bill accounts have been sliced and diced and given to new inexperienced reps, as in new to the company & new to pharma. But we’re are all one team.

people first, mission always. except when it comes to a sinking crm ship. Then it’s every man for himself. Ironically our leader was the one who ignored warnings and steared us into the iceberg. But he did it during the day, with modern gps technology. If you’re displaced w/enhanced severance - you are in the life boat.

After 9 years this is what I know for sure-

you are your employee number & sometimes that fits with a territory number. Sometimes the 2 work out& sometimes they don’t. Novartis doesn’t care what you’ve done- in many cases your success will make you easier to replace. Any dumb ass can be placed in a successful territory and do well.

If you’re new pcp in the last 2.5 years and were placed - consider yourself lucky, congrats on your promotion. Also send a thank you note to mike exton because he dumbed down the salesforce. Many of your colleagues came in with years of cardiology and hospital experience.

next steps - Duane & the disasters will send communication about how we were picked because we were the best of the best & now we have to continue business growth etc. LIES.
There will be talk of being resilient & motivational Mumbo jumbo- but then they will start asking questions about metrics & performance, having a new territory will not be accepted. don’t forget ONE Team.
this isn’t an evolution. we haven’t been in the restructured alignment from sept 2020 long enough to evolve. Duane f-ed up got called out by des after Dallas & here we are.

Spot on accurate in every sense. There’s absolutely nothing left here to be resilient or happy about. This is all on Duane and senior management hands. They created the situation and are responsible for this dumpster fire. The PCP experiment was never going to work. That was all his brainchild.

Perfect description. Anyone who has been around the industry (i.e. more than one company) knows Z.S. will make incomprehensible mistakes, but this may be their magnum-opus.
If they sat down and deliberately tried to make something this shitty on purpose, they couldn't do it.
They should have just hired your toddlers, gave them a map of the United States and a few colored markers and asked them to start making circles.
Novartis would have saved money and had a much more coherent, professional product.

I was retained but interviewing for another job. Already told there's going to be another "restructuring" coming , Feb the latest.

Left with crap this is a mess and NOT over. Bought me a year to figure an exit plan … once entresto is generic they can actually cut people and investors will understand the rational

a couple of President's Club Winners were let go.

Thats TERRIBLE

That’s what happened on the neuro/MS side last year as well. I believe around 11-12 were offered a package and then 1 of the ABL’s let go in my area was tracking to win pclub and ranked highest got cut.

It makes zero sense how they use zs to identify because its not performance.

The package is good for my friend who was in your situation with 18+ years but the healthcare cost has gone up and not what the old Novartis projected was he told me. A few others confirmed it as well. Sounds like you don’t have much time and can ride it out, but I’d agree if you can find another job and leave Novartis you will be better off because of it. It’s not the same company anymore.

I have been here just under 7 years and have done relatively well with entresto sales HOWEVER some observations;

- Changes in the sales force have occurred every 18 - 24 months of which usually leads to people being displaced and/or leaving. PCP sales force a perfect example
- Less than 10% of SMDP candidates are placed, at least in CV. My region has had only brought on 1 internal hire, rep to manager in 7 years.
- In many ways CV and ISS compete; having sold in both channels before the implementation of ISS, most decisions come back to cardiology. 95% of entresto utilization is outpatient. easier for me as CV rep to get doc on board versus inpatient pathways. My ISS colleagues make little bonus, but bigger salary
- If entresto is any indicator as to the effort Novartis puts behind a novel medication, I’m cautiously optimistic leqvio will make it but could be wrong.
