I think Shire is making a big mistake with some of these changes. I can't believe they didn't even try to keep reps in their same territories as much as possible. Please consider lowering out goals in Q1 since we will all be starting from scratch and dealing with the impact of doctors losing their possibly long term reps.

Hope they learned their lesson from using this horrible ZS Associates company who obviously knows nothing about geography across the nation!

I would think goals would be lowered as well. It takes time to build a territory (new territory for most of us) especially dealing with access issues, getting doctors to trust new reps, getting on lunch calendars and so forth. That being said, you are out of your mind if you think Shire will lower the goals. They will save money but not having to pay out as many bonus dough.
 






The timing was awful. Even though it was awful waiting to know your destiny. However, my phone has rang many times with a few docs, but mostly nurses and front office staff, calling to request samples and coupons. Not in a bragging manner, but when I tell them I will not be their rep...they are somewhat irritated! I worked my territory hard and treated all of my offices with respect.

To add to that...they have to wait until January (I'm assuming) to have the new rep bring them samples/coupons.

Nice move Shire....great way to show we are physician and patient advocates!

Management needs to get their act together right now...a newborn baby could make better decisions than the present!

And these idiotic managers "buy in" to what Acuff sells. They dump money into him so he can babble about common sense. Shire mgmt got sold like a cheap hooker!!

I wonder how bad mgmt is balancing their personal finances?

They probably pull tax fraud, juice the books, etc...

I mean... Why do you think that big fine is coming and more is on the way.

Shire mgmt is really ethical and they care about their employees. They are very physician and patient centric. If patients are not meant for the meds...relax sales force!! Our ultimate goal is to get just the patients meant for our meds...we are striving to be as brave as the people we serve. They have our full attention!

I sure as hell hope that lightening doesn't strike soon! Haha
 












To the person who commented on docs not being covered until the new rep takes over, it's still your territory until January 1st. You should take care of them because they Msy be your target again in the near future. So if they are abandoned you need to look in the mirror bc you choose not to call on them this month.

I think the maybe the rep was displaced and the new rep won't be calling on them until next year. That was my guess.

No, actually were told that we were no longer employed by Shire at 5:00 on Friday the week of lay offs! Therefore, it would not be compliant for us to walk in representing Shire. We can no longer sample. If high volume targets have went through their samples then what can the displaced do about that. In many cases the displaced were instructed to transfer samples to another rep.

As for answering questions related to products or disease state...I'm not going to be held liable as I am no longer employed by Shire.

The only thing we can do is cordially answer the phone and explain our territory has been dissolved but a rep will be around as soon as they can.

These are docs that the majority of us had deep relationships with (just like you...maybe) and we are handcuffed on handling this situation. Between turning in all materials to Shire, looking for another job, and taking phone calls that are beginning to pour in...it's a tough balancing act!

I to lost friends in this process which is why your post upset me. Bc plenty of good reps would not leave doc hanging just bc theyare not in their territory next year. And a rep retained making that comment would be worthless and not deserving of keeping there job over a great rep that was displaced!!! My post was clear I was referring to a current rep retained. My intent was there are great reps displaced that would Have continued calling on those doctors ( misunderstanding) Now your profanity rant was ridiculous but I won't take it personal. I actually care about people displaced. I will say a prayer for u and your family to find something quick and you may even find greener pastures!

Once again, I apologize for the mis-communication. Life is really stressful and my brain isn't functioning to normal capacity. This is just so stressful that I am trying to keep a steady head and work to do my ethical close out with Shire while searching for a career in a pitiful job market.
