Do you have autonomy in running your business at Intuitive?
zero autonomy.
you're a yes man/woman at best.
you do as you're told at Intuitive, also, don't offer up any of your own ideas, they're not wanted.
Couldn't be any further from the truth, and I can promise whoever posted this doesn't work here.
There are so many opportunities to offer up your own ideas it's sick. I'm sure there are CSM's who dictate and micro-manage, but they're not all like that. I'm in the South Central region and know a ton of great managers that welcome feedback from their reps. We all have times in our jobs where we "yes" management to avoid unnecessary/unproductive conflict. Who doesn't?
I've received more anonymous surveys recently than I can respond to. Intuitive realized a few years ago that we were losing too many great people and that our culture was not what we needed. The executives made some changes and in many areas things have improved drastically.
I love the pharma rep bashing. It's fantastic. And I bet you sold "surgical supplies" before working at ISI. I'd like to know why you think selling bandaids and gauze elevates you as being a better sales rep then someone who sells a drug or anything else. Douche. Selling is selling. Whether it's a drug, a valve, a hip or a robot. You either can do it or you can't. I think you'd be better off bashing those who fail at their ISI job rather then judge where someone comes from.
I do work at isi and I can tell you that the south central region is notorious for being the best region in the country. The west on the other hand is a mess. These managers are micro managing dictators and self important schmuks who literally call us every day asking where we are and what we're doing and grilling us on the potential outcome. Nothing is ever good enough and they are constantly looking for areas for improvement aka areas they can thrash you to make themselves look good on a conference call when they tell the whole csm team about it.
The executives probably do want to change the culture but it's not them who need to change it, it's the CSMs. They are the people the csrs work with every day and they are the ones responsible for people leaving. Especially in the west...northern and southern California the two women are disgustingly incompetent and need to learn to respect people as people.
Great to hear that the South Central is notorious for being the best. I agree with you. CSMs are awesome out here and CSD's like Dave C and others are great to work with. They're kickass guys and they support us and our hard work.
It really sucks how the bad micro-managing dictator CSMs out west are screwing with our company reputation and causing good people to walk away from great careers with this company. I really wish things were different in certain regions. Tell the 2 broads out in California to take a freaking hike or send em down here to Texas so we can cut em loose in the middle of a pack of wild hogs (just kidding).
