Culture is very positive -- for E. coli, that is.

very limited upward mobility; most hiring in sales/marketing is hiring from outside the company. Recently there was a rash of Rep to manager mobility on the Pulmonary side( about 3 people)

Culture in sales/marketing is "what have you done for me today; it's not enough."

Talecris has a toxic culture because of most of senior leadership. The management here is the worst I have ever experienced. As Talecris has grown more and more laid off pharma people have been hired ~ they come here with their tired and stale ideas. The meetings (last week) are 5 days of useless dribble that reflect the old pharma ways. Most managers come from GSK and the like. The only reason there is little turn over because they pay us (thousands) to stay through the two attempted buy-outs. That may sound special but its pennies compared to what management gets in stock (we have none) and retention bonus. Middle management have little to no say on anything ~ they count calls (pharma) , adhere to pharma guidelines (their choice to save $$$) (pharma) Pulmonary is a bit better than immunology because the DOS of Immunology is an evil, nasty woman, but don't be fooled ~ all divisions have major flaws. If you need a check - you can try, but if employed somewhere else - stay there. Best of luck.
