CSR contract (Sunovion)....

So, this Lunesta contract ends 12/31 and the recruiters all seem to say that these things get extended or Publicus will try to get you onto a new contract asap.....Any truth to any of this? How long have any of you gone between contracts??

Haven't they extended the AZ contract for a few years running?? I'm not sure they "never" get extended, although I'm curious to why the short duration for this contract. 9 months?? What's the point? Test run?

I interviewed for one of these positions (didn't get it, of course), but honestly when it was explained as a 9 month position, I really wasn't too heartbroken about not getting it.

12 "quality interactions" a day, but a call list of something like 120-150 doctors (no "prospecting", you just called on the assigned docs) means being in an office every two weeks or so.

No direct sampling, you would inventory the existing samples and arrange for additional samples to be mailed by Sunovion.

But I guess if you're looking for something to do for a few months, it probably beat digging ditches. Most days.

I was offered this position and the territory was huge as well....120-150 physician offices with 12 calls required per day will put some miles on any vehicle. I'd be all over the state a couple of times a month at least and I live in a big state. There was no way I was destroying my car for 36k and a contract that is ending 12/31 (that's right, an 8 month contract) with close to zero chance of extension. I'm not sure how this is worth the total destruction of my car and endless windshield time so I'm on to other things......

Publicis’ other contract is going on its 4th year. I see it ending this year. It’s a job with great benefits but if you have other options avoid this job. It completely destroys your car, gas prices are not fair, new criteria are constantly being added so it is difficult to meet bonus. You are not selling yet your manager gets a bonus based on all of your hard work while they sit at home. They shoot you an email here & there, conference calls that are really of no help, and do ride alongs that are absolutely of no use to you

8 months isn't worth it......Better to spend your time interviewing for more permanent options. If you can land this, you can get something better. The DM that interviewed me kept saying that this is "a foot in the door" and will open up all kinds of pharma opportunities.

Anyone else out there get this position?? I turned it down for the short duration and the huge territory.....Maybe it'll be decent (but short contract) for another area.

Don't fall for the "foot in the door" quote. Pharma companies are shrinking sales forces and you will be up against very seasoned reps. A Foot in the door this is not.

Keep looking for better opportunities. Good luck.

Don't buy it. So contracts do not get renewed and some even end early. As for getting you on another contract ASAP. Doesn't happen.

It did with me a few years ago when Amgen pulled out early, and Publicis put me in another contract the next month. If you are a good rep, they will keep you going when other contracts become open.It only makes sense.

Well....My territory is huge and my car already has a lot of miles. Also am spending 3 times as many nights per month in hotels than was originally told. Who even knows how long this will last. I'm interviewing elsewhere before this 8 month contract ends. Good luck to those I met in training......Not worth the car wear and tear.

This is the "Publicis Way". They lie to you about the size of the territory. If contract companies would provide company cars and gas cards, they would find reps more productive and willing to go the extra mile, but not under these circumstances. An 8 month contract is an open admission that the contracting company is not serious about the product promotion!

Totally agree! A company would indicate that they are really interested in making a contract position almost equal to a full time spot. But, the fact is, they are not interested is making the contract more acceptable, because so many castaways from pharma companies would love these wannabe positions.. In re an 8 month contract, who in their right mind (except those that are extremely desperate!) would want such a short-live gig? I mean it takes that long just to get used to the offices that you are calling on! You go through miserable training, and then you are right back looking again in just a few short months. This is why I wasn't interested in the Duchesnay contract.
