There are a higher number out of control micro managers than there are out of control reps. It's really not that hard to manage a rep. Give autonomy to a rep and treat them like an adult. Create goals for short term and long term. Be on the same page for the highest priorities and measureables you are graded on and revisit with the once a month. If they aren't doing there job fire them and hire somebody who will. Its really not that difficult. Acting as a babysitting micro manager is a major turn off for any rep. Hire mature people who can work autonomously. problem solved.
