So some of the people who were laid off in Rochester were tip of the top performers. They come highly recommended for jobs from their supervisors for getting work at places other than B+L.
This is the key to why B+L culture is so bad regardless of who the owners are. Layoffs are followed by periods of over hiring. People who have then been for the company for years are laid off and essentially replaced with new hires regardless of their performance.
The culture allows for a few VPs and Directors to manipulate the pool of workers in a way that best keeps them employed. It is not what is best for the company it is what is best for them. The new management (Valeant) has been played by the current Directors and VPs to continue this culture.
It will probably be another 2 to 3 years before the over hiring process begins again. Look on your end of the year reviews and see if the VPs and Directors are more focused on making sure that their next in line for their job competition looks bad than giving out actual honest job performance reviews. Perhaps HR loves the job elimination job replacement cycle as it keeps them busy in their jobs looking for replacement workers and setting ridiculous job goals and objectives year after year.
