Cowboy's Josh Brent charged with DUI manslaughter of teammate

Damn. Now had he hit a fan in a crosswalk chances are he'd miss a couple games but be back in time for the playoffs. But since a fellow teammate died, he's probably in deep shit. According to a report he hit a curb and rolled his car with Cowboy practice squad LB Jerry Brown in the passenger seat. Didn't say what kind of car - but my guess is another Bentley.

I hope that brain damage from playing football didn't cause him to drink. I guess we won't know for sure until we get a statement from his attorney. Looks like he's got quite a bit of playing time in this season as nose-tackle. He's played in all 12 games. For some reason I don't think they'll have to give him protected custody in the big house. Since he stands 6'2 and 320 pounds I don't think anyone will fuck with him. That's good.

Well, few people can claim with a straight face that we haven't climbed behind a steering wheel after having a couple adult beverages. So this could happen to most anybody unless you happen to be a Franciscan monk or nun. The difference is most of us don't make millions of dollars and play in the NFL. Man alive, that's a long fall from grace, eh?

RIP, Jerry. You left us way too soon, man. Say 'hi' to the KC LB for us. I'll say a prayer for ya.

It's sad. So very sad.

I read that Brent also had a previous DUI in 2009.

He's royally fucked.

Time to make a deal. Anything less than 3 years is a gift.

Oh, and the civil suits are going to get nasty too.

Poor guy. He had the world by the balls too. He probably wakes up in the morning thinking it was all a bad dream. Why stop drinking now?

Shit happens sometimes.

Since I have a general idea of where the accident happened, I would blame it on the fucking mindless routing of the city of Irving and the County of Tarrant. The massive road construction projects re-route you at a moments notice, so the way you went yesterday, isn't the way you go today. He is pretty fucked though, as he should be. The road construction management down here though is very, very fucked up.

Poor Jerry Brown. Wrong place, wrong time. Life's a bitch and then you die. RIP, dude.

Even though he was only on the practice squad that's still quite an honor. You gotta practically be the best of the best just to make it that far.

My heart goes out to his family. Must be a real big loss for the next of kin.

God love ya all.

Much of life is not really fair in many respects. So much depends upon what kind of hand we're dealt (regardless of the bullshit they tell you as a kid that you can become the POTUS. horseshit. I don't know why they lie to our kids like that.)

Oh, and there's equality under the law too. Did they fuck with you as a kid and tell you that too? heh. That was always a good one.

Got any other examples off the top of your heads? :D

One tragedy is worse than the other?

As tragedies go? You bet your ass. In one we have 1 dead man and one going to jail. In the other we have 1 dead woman, 1 dead man and an orphaned 3 mo. old.

I am not going to include the damaged mercedes because I am not including property in this analysis. I'm more compassionate than that.

Sort of like a straight flush beat a full house. Get it?

No. I don't get it.

Did you read that the mother of deceased Jerry Brown has asked Josh Brent to ride with her to Jerry's memorial service?

Brent killed her son.

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction.

For God sakes. Have you heard the latest?

A black lady motorist who witnessed the accident and stopped to assist made a statement to the media. Apparently she approached Brent who was pacing around after the accident and asked if he was okay. He said he was alright. Then she noticed that there was a small fire in the engine of the car and it was growing bigger. Someone trapped inside the car (Jerry Brown) was calling for someone to help him. Brent failed to respond. Then the woman witness approached Brent and had to repeatedly order him to pull Brown from the vehicle or that Brown would die. Only after repeated urgings did Brent go to the car and pull Brown out. The woman said that she was pissed at Brent for failing to act. And she wanted everyone to know that he pulled Brown from the burning vehicle only after she demanded he do so.

And Brown's mother wants Brent to ride with her during the procession at Brown's memorial service???? WTF???????????????? Are you shittin' me?????????????????

The Cowboys blow. I ask all Cowboy fans I see, what do you see in Tony Romo? He absolutely blows.

Yo, Libluvs - why don't you play the 'No-Spread Bonanza Bowl' contest?

You always bitch that you don't like the spread system. Well. We don't have spreads for the bowl games.

So what's your REAL reason?

Just curious.

Not a big College guy, more of an NFL fan. Half of the teams I know nothing about.

Hey Broncho Boy, what's the deal with Titus Young? He is the malcontent of all malcontents. Didn't he go to Boise State? Obviously, Kellen Moore has had no civilizing effect on him in Detroit.

I haven't been following Titus. I am the opposite of you. I am a big college fan and avoid the NFL like the plague. I think it's fucking rididulous to pay some asshole with a 450 combined SAT score who can't balance his own checkbook 5x's more than the most accomplished surgical oncologist in the nation with 16 years of higher education. But that's just me. I enjoy watching the kids before they get corrupted with money.

Titus was an exceptional wide receiver at Boise. He helped make Kellen look like a superstar. I don't recall Titus causing any problems at Boise. But then black people in Idaho normally keep low profiles. So this might be a Michigan thing. I don't know what's going on there. And I don't really want to research it. Is it over the terms of his contract? Or is he protesting your new 'right to work State' law?

Just curious. Has Kellen gotten any playing time in this season? Does he suit-up for away games? I think I read that they gave him a $1.44M 3-year contract. That ain't bad for not having to face any blitzing LB's who weight 260 pounds with 8% body fat and run the 40 in 4.2 secs.

But if Titus is causing problems in Detroit it's probably best for Kellen not to party with him on the weekends. Otherwise he might become radioactive to the coaching staff and put any of a contract renewal in jeopardy. When you start making 6 figures you gotta start being a politician whether you like it or not. Those are the rules of the jungle. :)

He is on his way out, so Kellen won't have to avoid him. In fact, I think that he was already told to hit the road (placed on I.R.). Yeah, I know a lot of guys like you and there is something to the "innocence" of College Football. But the fact still remains that there are some exceptional and intelligent athletes in the NFL, like Calvin Johnson. I like to watch the best that there is, playing at a higher level. I can tell you why Ndomakong Suh is such an asshole. He is Double and Triple Teamed on every play. Nick Fairley is a budding Star, because he is always One on One with a Guard. I also love to watch guys that make the players around them better. They want to run Suh out of Detroit. That is a huge mistake.

Yeah, libluvs. I got no use for the NBA either. Not after those genetic mutants went on strike for half the year in 2011. Fuck 'em. Imagine that. Average contract is probably $2-$3 mil per year and those fucks think they deserve more? heh. I hate the NBA more than I hate the NFL. As a matter of fact if I happen to be at the gym when a game is on at the refreshment bar, I'll watch who their sponsors are and make a mental note never to buy their shit. Seriously. I really enjoy watching the college kids play. Once in a while I'll even walk down to the local school on a Saturday afternoon and watch the grade school kids play soccer. Shit, I get more enjoyment from that than I do watching a pro game to be honest with ya. Those kids are in it for the love of the game and for the competition. No contracts included. Btw, I don't know who Suh is. I wouldn't know him if I passed him on the sidewalk. But what kind of fucking name is that? Ndomakong Suh?? Are you shittin' me?? heh.

And do you know if Kellen has had any regular season (not pre-season) playing time this year for the Lions? Last time I looked at his stats it was a big goose egg across the board. That must be frustrating. They are paying the guy about $400,000 a year and he sees no action. That would be like some Sgt. Rock dude joining the Marines to kill something and his entire career is spent without a war.

I wish Titus well. If he's as big a pain in the ass as you say I doubt if any other NFL team will pick him up. Maybe he can sing or dance.
