Covidien Openings

I am currently going through the interview process with Covidien for Respiratory Solutions. Any insight on this opportunity? Looks like there is a great amount of openings, is this due to layoffs or possible expansion? Any honest information would be appreciated.

Usually a smaller company such as covidien would be a great opportunity. However from someone that was hired during a recent expansion last march let me tell you this.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! I have never seen a company give such little support or help and than raise your goals faster than you could imagine. The managers at this company are 100% worthless and do nothing but play babysitter. They will all sell you out at the drop of a hat. I have seen it happen countless times already, and they brag about how expendable the reps are.

The corporate culture is complete garbage. You will literally have RDs, VPs smiling to your face telling you how amazing and valuable you are, than at the drop of a hat put you on the shit list. I mean literally week by week. During the meetings the company preaches the corporate family BS, but as soon as your numbers are slightly below 100% be prepared to be put on plan and quickly fired. Even though our products are more expensive, less effective and have worse managed care than the competition.

Over all this company is worse than most big pharma out there. They pay you less, give you more BS to deal with and have a quicker turn around time than you would believe. We did a dual product launch in march and people were being fired by august. This company was the worst career mistake I ever made, and I can only hope that I get fired during the summer.

Now I am in the pharma side and know you are looking into a different division, but I can tell you that it's the same throughout the company. Covidien is toxic and if I didn't have a family to support I would quit today. Good luck out there.

What is it that you are trying to get by posting all of that?

What's the matter? Can't sell anything, can you? Being asked to do your job and generate prescriptions is too much for you, isn't it?

Slightly below 100% and then put on a pip? Bullshit.
Products more expensive than competition? Oh no! What's a salesman to do!
Products less effective than the competition? Bullshit on that one, too.
Products have less managed care than the competition? No shit, they just got launched. I would like better coverage, too, but that's the breaks when launching new drugs - the competition's been out a lot longer. On the national plans, we are all in the same boat, yet other reps are getting prescriptions, what's your excuse?

You're the toxic one and I also hope you get axed by the summer.

This poster tells the TRUTH! The pharma side is managed by browbeating. The second poster, well, you can tell written by a management troll.

Gawd, this one's a moron (as they all are). Hey m'fer, the 70's just called, they want their business model back.

Business model? No managed care in the 70's, so you not selling when the national plans are pretty close to equal while other reps are selling, doesn't make sense. Efficacy of both products is not an issue, so if you were doing your job, you'd have some scripts based on selling F&B. I agree that we have it rough in getting the drug paid for. We are losing a lot of scripts due to coverage, no doubt.

Now if you would like to address all of your "b.s." comments above and why some reps are doing it while you obviously aren't, I'm listening.

Not a manager, just a rep trying to survive like you, except I'm not on here whining like a little bitch.

Another idiot on the Pharma board trying to find out about the Respiratory division. Find the CP device rep area and look for Covidien. Wake up!!!

Wow! You are really ignorant! I came to these boards for guidance/advice; all you want to do is hide behind your computer and be rude. I did read the past posts and everyone is bitching about Pharma in this post, sorry for reiterating my original question about MEDICAL DEVICES!!!!!! I posted here because it is a COVIDIEN board! I also posted in the Medical Device board but wasn't getting any feedback and past posts people are bicting about other divisions. Sorry I didn't follow the rules of CafePharma according to you!

haha You should probably pay attention before you start calling people idiots. Hmmmm we are located in Cafepharma Message Boards > Company Boards > COVIDIEN!!!! This isn't the Pharma board, who is the idiot now?

Pharma apologizes to the person with the med device side question.

There have been some really bad treatment on the Pharma side and most wouldn't recommend working on the Pharma side.

Once the economy improves, there will be a mass exit.

Haha. You must be one of the typical brown nosing goofs that everyone laughs at during our horrible meetings. Oh and by the way pharma is the farthest thing from actual sales as you can get. No need to bullshit the bullshitters on here we all know that is true. We all know that your territory and doctors are what determines 90% of your scripts not you stopping in for a 30 second signature every 2 weeks and dropping off a horrible lunch once a month. Sorry guy if you been in this industry for more than 6 months you probably already know that. Which is why the majority of the people that got awards back in October had 50 scripts in their first week. Must be their AWESOME selling skills right?

Oh and yes everyone is getting prescriptions, but if you take a look at everyone's over all %'s to goal they are AWFUL and only getting worse. Post last months numbers here and prove me wrong.

I made the post because I have been in the industry for a while now and have not come across this level of bullshit not even from big pharma, and I stand corrected it was a CAP for a month than PIP if you are below a 100%. Depends on your manager and the majority of them here are complete garbage. Any decent ones wouldn't be here.. Just the way it is.
I am hoping that anyone interested in accepting a position at this company takes the time to read the REAL info about the company and not regret it 6 months in like the majority of the reps.

I am glad you are drinking the cool aid and enjoying your time here, but for the rest of the people with their heads not up their asses they know the difference. Have fun selling our shitty me too products that doctors cant stand using. I know I will!!

Hi Management or corporate ass kisser. Nice to see you found your way to cafepharma. I can confirm with absolute certainty that depending on the manger if you are below 100% even for 1-2 months this company can and will place you on a CAP for 1 month. Even if you show a significant increase in performance and sales #s they can still get rid of you for no reason and base it on performance. If you are wondering I'm a legacy rep and the company has always been this shitty. We just put on a smiley face during launch. Sorry.

Yes this is sales and we all understand that we are accountable for our numbers. Wait is pharma really sales?? Anyone that has been in the industry knows that this is not sales. We get 10-15 signatures a day if we are lucky and cater lunches while we blurt out pre-approved slogans and catch phrases to stick with the doctors. We are walking talking billboards with an expense account. Don't get me wrong im not really complaining, because I can't believe we get paid to do this. Please don't fool yourself that you are actually making a difference or are doing "real" sales.

Your numbers are mostly determined by your managed care coverage (which is absolutely horrible in most areas) and the doctors you were lucky enough to get. Now I know you all have success stories about that doctor you won over, but come on...

Let me give you an example (and anyone that has been in the industry more than 6 months will 100% agree with me that the rep has little to do with actual numbers) look at the top reps that got awards back in October. You will notice most of them had 50 scripts in their first week. Unless you are gods gift to doctors there is no way that those reps did anything whatsoever to get those scripts. That's the way it is and always will be. We are becoming more and more unnecessary to doctors and they know it.

All in all this company is a joke. Crappy me too products that are more expensive and don't have the coverage. Which would be fine if management didn't freak out at poor sales numbers and corporate pretty much losing every managed care fight they got into. So in record time Covidien is firing people for performance and any other reason they can find. Expect to see a large reduction in the sales force this coming year.

.

Because of morons like you who set the goals! And a great big BULLSHIT to you about not being management. Pricks like you fired those who gave a shit about this company.
