Covid-related layoffs?

THIS IS PURELY HYPOTHETICAL

No end in sight for shutdowns, and even then, will reps be allowed back in till later this year? If so, will we need such massive marketing teams and other support & non-field functions like FAO, MAS, PCD etc

How long can DNA & Roche afford to keep up all on the books if there isn't enough work to go around?

I'm not in the field so I don't know what's happening with other companies. Any information to share here?

Are you kidding me? How much money did Roche pull in last year? Seriously, they are terrible people if they lay anymore people off. They can wait until this mess is over. Don't you read the news? Roche is raking it in off of the virus.

Roche is making so much money off of this pandemic. The test, treatments, and the best financial year in 2019. Yet, they are laying people off and taking away their income and health insurance where people are dying. This will return in the fall. Some say don’t take it personal, it’s just business. I say death is personal and this is absolutely unethical and disgusting. I would never choose to work here again. As a single parent, I don’t know what I am going to do. The economy is tanking and all mother Roche cares about is profit. Patient first....always.

Dear leadership,

YOU NEED A NEW MINDSET!!!! TAKE A DEVELOPMENT CLASS THAT CAN HELP YOU. Compassion and empathy will serve you well.

Patients first....always.” Don’t take the layoffs personal. It’s just business. Not having an income or health insurance is personal as is death. I am a single parent and do not know what I am going to do, especially when this returns in the fall. Financially, 2019 was the best year EVER and Roche/Genentech is making so much money with the dx test, antibody test, and treatments. Millions and millions of $$$ ...simply disgusting.

Leadership is so proud to work here.

The are make millions off a pandemic with tests and treatment yet have there employees are losing their jobs and health insurance. Be very proud. Great job.

Patients first....always. Yeah right.

We are patients too, as well as, being employees. So that patient first mantra is BS! We need UNIONS! What Roche is doing is replacing older workers with younger one’s. What the younger ones don’t realize after 10 years, if you are able to make that. Roche will start the process again. A lot of cuts are needed. I agree with that, if only they need to cut management teams across the board too. A lot of them.

Totally agree. Look at the age of the people being hired while more experienced older employees are getting let go.

Look at it this way- Roche is still selling drugs, there aren't any expenses other than our paycheck because we are at home. They are making a killing right now. Has anyone completed a video meeting, not going to happen in my area.

I believe in corporate karma. The reason why we were doing so well as a company for so long was because we did it right by our people and patients. We had leaders who focused on the well being of our people. We had the right scientists doing the right things. We had the right priority. When the focus shifted to profits, we lost our science and identify. What is left in this place is just the empty name.

Everyone new what was going to happen to this company more or less last summer. If you were not exploring your options or soul searching shame on you if you where expecting job security. Either you pick yourself up a dust off the Genentech glitter and start interviewing or you vote for vote for Bernie.. Everyone’s griping is worst than listing to CEOF calls and I give exceeds expectations grade!!
