Contractors

Can we please stop hiring contractors in certain complex areas at Exact?

The amount of time spent trying to get contractors up to speed is absurd. You end up having a Full Time Employee spend more time getting the contractor up to speed than actually doing work. On top of fixing the work contractors typically do. This pushes out deadlines.

The work at Exact especially in certain areas is highly complex (anything to do with LIS, Epic, etc.). Hiring contractors in this area is not feasible. Instead, invest in Full Time Employees who will stay with the company and be invested in the company.

Some of these contractors also moonlight and rarely show up to meetings on time or at all.

No, the LIS is a POS because God forbid ES would use something off the shelf that more people would know and be easier to support instead of this homegrown garbage called sample minded.

Wrong. It's the only feasible route for a company that can't turn a profit and can't afford full time people who will work no more than contractors and never be invested in the company. We don't need more people at this company doing mostly nothing for 100k/ yr.

This is completely wrong. You can’t buy an off the shelf LIS that would work for Exacr moron.

And the only people doing nothing is upper leadership. And they make $200k+. Everyone I know that works on the LIS works their asses off.

But good try. You are most likely someone in upper leadership. Once again, out of touch and in fantasy land.

Wrong. You can absolutely buy an off the shelf software for almost anything, and then modify it to your needs, usually with the vendors help. Exact doesn't want that. They want to do everything from scratch, because the place is run by uneducated fools. . Nice try. And there is literally no one in IT that works their asses off, unless you consider 6 hour days, 4 days/ week wfh working hard. That's why the CIO will ensure only indians get hired. They will work harder and longer for significantly less pay. Not that it matters, the company will be out of business in a few years anyway.

Again, simply not true. You can’t buy something to integrate with the custom machinery in the Labs. It’s impossible. Unless you brought in consultants/contractors to custom develop on top of a bought LIS but then at that point…what was the point of buying something off the shelf? Either way, you’re spending millions on custom development.

Also, thanks for the information! Can’t wait for the discrimination lawsuits to line up!

And yes I do agree that with current “leadership”, we will be out of business in a few years.

You're simply wrong. The "machinery" in the lab isn't custom. You're just making shit up. And the equipment purchased from manufacturers is all based on barcodes like any other clinical Lab. Exact isnt doing anything not already done somewhere else. Stop spreading your nonsense. No wonder you think contractors don't know anything, because you don't. You really think we need a custom LIS to record the result from a PCR machine? I mean jc. You're nuts. The only custom equipment is the new automation that sole purpose is to transport kits. It's still based on barcodes.

And the spl line simply reads barcodes of the samples. What the robotics do is irrelevant. It's just automating the barcode scans and subsequent tasks a scientist would do by hand. But it's still just a barcode read that x happened. This is exactly why this company is failing. No one at this company is qualified for the position they hold. All you've told me is you don't know a damn thing about clinical science or IT.

And now we know who you are. Fell right into the trap. Good job!

lol Indians are terrible at Software Engineering. You want to tank the company? Yeah hire Indians….wow

Jumping in here…The software to integrate it all together will be custom. I think that’s what the original poster meant and they are correct

And terrible in leadership positions!
I mean, from a cultural POV, and you can see lower caste indians being harassed and screwed over by upper caste and indians, who are used to calling the shots and not having to work with women. So yes but there are nuances and caste and misogyny play huge role. There is def an opportunity to educate and evolve as they assimilate

Or just hire Americans…Americans first…(and yes Indian Americans too)

Everyone in IT works hard. Some 60-80 hours. It may only appear that way because of processes by CX and Jake Orville/Brian Jaffa.

But if I had to guess, you’re a part of CX. Billy Daniels? That guy knows how to create fights.

Billy Daniels can barely form complete sentences. But CX is run by Mark Fallai and if you haven’t seen his resume he’s a glorified web designer with zero healthcare experience. It’s all swampland everywhere you look.

Lol. No they don't. If they did, the AI system requested by KC back in November would have rolled out by now, and it wouldn't have taken a year for oncomove. I mean jc, if IT worked, the company would have completed this lame crap years ago.

The core software doesn't need to be. Stop acting like ES is the first company to integrate a barcode scan into a LIMS to track a test, result or product. It's absurd. This has been done for decades by 1ks of other companies using software packages purchased from vendors and adapted to the company needs. ES is just filled with uneducated fools who want to look smart by don't g everything the hard way. May as well pay Indian contractors and save some money since the result will be the same.

I'll chime In to say the biggest issue I see for ES is that the systems they are putting in place are designed around a test from 12 years ago. Competitors are using off the shelf automation and the LIS systems of the Quests and LabCorps of the world, they are smaller kits, smaller samples.. I think there's significant advantage to those partnering with Thermo, Quest, and LabCorp. Having to build out all this stuff this late in the game is worrisome. I'm not convinced there will be any major reduction in the sample volume as Kevin stated. So now we are committed to automation designed to handle massive buckets unlike the competition.
