The following are lies:

"The good thing about this contract is the sponsor is looking to bring everyone on as a direct hire"
"The sponsor is looking to extend this contract or potentially bring people on as direct hires"
"Don't worry, Iqvia will bench the Clinical Educators between contracts so we don't lose good people"
"We have so many things in the pipeline, you will get placed in a new contract right away"

All are lies.

SPOT ON. They work you to death, making it impossible to have a part-time job for back up.. only to drop you with zero severance and zero notice. Shame. #Iqvia #syneos #ashfield #amplity

Also, is having a contract position on your resume a death sentence if you want to get back into big pharma?

I have seen a ton of contract reps get jobs with the manufacturer. I think contract is so common now that it doesn't have the black eye it once did. You might find a few companies and hiring managers who don't like contract. But then those companies aren't for you and not a good fit.
