Considering transfer to Ethicon

Given the tone of messages on this board, I expect a fair bit of hateful nonsense, but non-spurious responses to my question would be appreciated. I am considering a transfer from another part of JNJ to Ethicon. The thing is, I like being part of JNJ and I'm looking at the Y-on-Y declines in the Medical Device segment. Anyone care to comment seriously on the odds of JNJ sticking with Ethicon for the mid to long term or divesting a la Cordis and OCD?

No way they divest Ethicon. Too important to the long term success of JNJ. With that being said, it depends on what role you are now and what you want to do in your career. It is a huge company that moves slow and promotes even slower. Also, you better be willing to move a lot to move up.

Excellent. Thanks very much for your response.

I am not sure how long you have been wit J&J but no OP is so important that J&J would not divest. Ethicon is only a cash cow right now with absolutely no innovation. If this OP does not find a way to truly grow over the next 5 years you will see what J&J thinks of Ethicon. J&J is important to J&J's long term growth.
