Connect Reps... what do you all think?

I am almost afraid to ask- but what do you think about Pfizer Connect?
Its really "lovey-dovey" over here. I mean the culture and leader is great and positive. But I cant help but feel the undertone of being in Pfizer's red headed step child the family hates...

I just wanted to break into pfizer and i somehow was honeypotted into a call center job..

I've not heard anyone express negativity toward the reps working at the call centers. There is frustration amongst field reps with management for pushing virtual calls when our customers prefer in-person engagements. Virtual call ability is an effective tool for field reps when used tactically. Field reps however, anticipate a quota/metric for virtual calls-a huge mistake.

Told my buddy to do it for a few years and then post for a field rep position.
It’s an entry level job with high turnover. They already have had people leave. Not sure if it’s sustainable in the long haul. There is a reason why they are being seen remotely… they don’t Rx. We have the cushion with Vaccine $$$ so now I’d the time to try something different.

As someone who is there, would you mind sharing what the day to day is actually like? As a field rep, I can’t imagine there is much success being had calling offices and hoping they will take meetings. That isn’t due to a lack of effort or skill, just a matter of finding the right fit for the customer.

I kind of feel I have to be cautious in what I say- because its pretty easy to pinpoint who is who. Its not that large and we are all pretty tight knit. so ill keep it high overview

Womens health just started so they are one week in dialing out- not sure how thats going

There is 1 IM team that is killing it. I mean killing it.
In my experience- I do have alot of push back at first about virtual.. but once you starve an office out on samples they will do it.
Its about convincing how easy it is- under 2 minutes and just showing them it really is easy
Lunches are worth doing virtual I would say. you have food delivered and get 20-30 minutes with a doctor.
thats my favorite part.

the hardest part is hitting the metric- they want a MIN of 10 vcc per day. based off field minimum office visits. well- Im not close to that. im averaging 5 a day. what impact i'm bringing is difficult to say now.
Lunches are the most impactful by far for me and have had great rx conversion thus far

i know there is a lot of "it cant be done" but we are figuring it out . that being said- its ridiculous we cant be in field and virtual. if i could do both - I honestly feel I would unstoppable haha

the cons:
- they made us move cross country for it
- once we are fully in office- they want us there for a full 8-9 hours
- because of that in office demand - im not sure how long i can last
- getting into large centers with no pharma rep policies- seems literally impossible to get into. I cant track a doctor down outside the building
- My TCL is pretty heavily no pharma rep policy- i feel locked out a huge portion. But still pulling off 5 a day average.
- I do worry about how short lived this will be. on the other hand- bourla has said he is looking to downsize the sales force even more. So this is what they want as the future of pfizer. That sucks lets be honest.
that makes pfizer in a whole feel less capability to move around in. because who wants to work in a call center for their career? Its insane

Pros:
- we really all do work very hard over here. No one is messing around. ye they are young people here- well they are all hungry. I mean really hungry and dedicated.
- culture is super positive- they have been treating us well
- our VP is really kind- she listened to direct feedback from our peers and implemented immediately

with all that- do you know an area hiring for field sales? hahah

good info and good luck. We all know they want to downsize field sales even more.....did he say that again recently?

Interesting insight.

Don’t be so quick to jump into a legacy “field” position. I love the job but you put yourself at risk of going through layoffs every 2-3 years. The field role is dying and if Connect is successful, you can expect many other companies to get on board. Master what you’re doing and put yourself in a position to lead a team.

As a first-gen PC rep, you’ll be in a good position to build a team of your own one day.

All that said, Find and do what you love. Make the best of this and don’t expect it to be like this forever. Change is the biggest constant in this biz.

Buddy I say do your thing if this is what breaks you into the industry go for it. Be persistent and work hard the leaders will reward you. Honestly, you probably do way more than the lazy people in field it's great to put on your resume that you understand digital. I think its great for those coming out of college good luck to you in your opportunity. The company has great pay and benefits.

Great info!

Would you mind sharing where you saw Bourla mention he wanted to reduce the sales force further? I personally have not seen that.

Not the poster but this is purely conjecture. Within the Pfizer Connect environment it’s a thought because it’s being presented as the future go to market model. The truth is nobody knows if Pfizer Connect will be viable or not. What most of these reps will find out is that over time 98% of all the interactions will be getting a signature for some samples. If they had no samples to offer the access would be next to nothing. Problem is in an office environment how do you fill up a 8-9 hour day getting limited to no access.

Exact Sciences has openings for field reps especially in CA. Look on the website. Starting salaries are from 70 to 90 based on experience. The quarter bonus is 11,000. Thats pretty good for entry level. The fleet cars are also lots better than the Pfizer choices. Exact hires a lot of young people with very little pharma experience. I have been at Exact for 6 months since coming over from Pfizer and its a breath of fresh air. Seriously apply here!. I hope this helps of your looking to get out of that call center.
