Company culture

TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the execs don't care about employees at all. There is a total disconnect between field sales and upper management. GHI states in their credo that they care about "having fun"... total lie! there is no fun at this company. they expect the sales people to work their butts off, they set unrealistic goals every quarter then place a ton of pressure on you when you don't meet goals.

I couldn't disagree more.

The sales management here think they're "tough", but compared to past experience - it's a breeze! If you get close to target, it's an easy life. The lack of metrics, reporting and overall discipline is really wonderful.

If that comes from execs being disconnected, then let's hope they stay that way. I'm happy with my salary and the occasional bonus $'s (although have to agree the goals are ridiculous and lack credibility, as they have for the past couple of years).

You can't pay for quality of life and my family loves the fact that I work here.

I know this is a late reply but I thought it important to respond...

The fact is it all depends on who you have managing you... some managers are great and will let you do your job without micro-managing and will save you from the wrath of Laura and the other execs. Others (especially new managers!) will be all over you for no good reason! I speak from experience: even if you make goal every quarter (as I have), there are managers who will find something to complain about and who will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat.
A lot of the issues at Genomic Health have to do with the fact that the culture is very cut-throat and "sorority-like"- if "they" like you, you are golden. Otherwise, you'll be treated like shit!
BEWARE!!!!!!

I have been with GHI for over two years and I can tell you from experience that this place is the WORST company I've ever worked for! As the above person said, if you have a new manager, you are screwed. Unfortunately for many of us, that is the case.
Laura is a complete idiot who has no idea what she is doing. She is so out of touch with the reality of sales, it's disgusting. Likewise many of the management team beneath her is either the same or so terrified of Laura they will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat to save their own asses from Laura's wrath!
The really unfortunate part is that I have made goal every quarter with the exception of 1 and I STILL get micro-managed by yet another new manager (on the West Coast). The base salary is decent, but commisions suck!!!!!!!!!! You will NOT make nearly enough money here to make it worth the shit you will put up with!!

I'm out...

Company culture???? What company culture?? Oh, you mean the one where you get treated like shit, where you make very little money, the one where you have a manager all over you even when you are making targets? If that's what you mean, well there you go....

The are very little incentives here yet the management team expects you to bust your ass! No work/life balance, no decent commisions because they will jack up your target if you blow out your numbers one quarter, no Pres. Club, even the top reps get a measly $400!!!! What a slap in the face!!!!

Run, don't walk from this company!!!!!

What is wrong with the company culture? Simple, managment like to think they have a wonderful company culture because they put on silly skits. The only thing they inspire in the culture is pressure. Sales people stay because the product is wonderful.
1. unrealist quotas - Only 60% of sales people are projected to make their quota and less then that actually are making their quota.
2. Micro-managment - the manager inhibit reps on what people say on a teleconference. They interupts during sales calls 5+ times and makes customers uncomfortable.
3. Manager - When customer's says good things on their ride-along it does not appear in the review. The manager put brownie points about their managment instead and is overly critical.

You've gotta love the skits though - David as buzz light year has inspired me through many challenging moments - to infinity and beyond - ye, at least it would appeal to my kids - shame they don't come to the meetings, where so many act as though they are only 10 years old.

And the bobble heads - what the f***, again my kids would love it....

When management starts to take their professional sales folks seriously (that was, when, guys!?!), we can start to make progress.

In the meantime, wise up and forget all the c-rap that might resonate with the lowest common denominator, and please show us some respect.

Kim/Brad do you really think the actions of these idiots helps us?

P.S. It has to be said Beggrow is a complete dork in managers clothing.

Beggrow was useless at CTI. she was interm dir of sales but when the heat was turned up she quit the position and left senior mgmnt hi and dri.

She was always "chicken little" mentality and never fought for her people, just herself.

Beware if u think she has your back! She will only stab you in the back.
what a useless bitch!

I work for GHI as an RUL and I am very happy with the company. No one mentioned the benefits and how amazing they are as far as health insurance, stock purchase plan etc. If you add up all the benefits, they by far exceed typical med tech companiesThis company is very generous to their employees hands down. Yes, maybe the quotas are sometimes out of reach however we are publicly traded and must show our investors growth. I would say that this company has found a very good balance of operating as a publicly held company with the privately held feel. GHI is well geared for a great and historic future in medical science and I am honored to work for a great organization that puts the patient first. If you're not happy here, there are thousands of other candidates wanting be on this team.
