Company cars going away?

Seriously... now I can't use my car for a vacation, to drive my kid and our neighbor to their soccer game? I would rather have a car allowance and just be done with the company car.

You can't seriously be complaining about not being able to drive your company car on a family road trip...the other nickel and dime shit I agree with, but putting 1000 miles on the company whip so you can take the wife and kids to the beach? Come on...

umm....aren't they deducting a payment from my check each time? Therefore, I sholud have the right to drive it. Besides, the vehicle is comparable with a golfcart.

anyone have an update on this? if we do go to an allowance how much would it be? i heard $600 but that seems low. hoping we would get to keep our gas cards also

Careful what you wish for. COV had an allowance program for employees that for some reason or another needed a vehicle that the company/division did not supply(health reasons, too tall, too fat to fit in normal car etc). That was a $900 allowance but it had some strings attached. The 900 included gas, you were required to carry a certain amount of insurance that was much higher than a normal policy and the kicker was that the car could be no older than a certain age, maybe 3 years old. I think I remember it saying that the car had to be a 4 door sedan as well but I may be wrong. It looked good from the $900 side but when you put the pencil to it to do the math is wasn't such a great deal especially if you have a large territory.

$900 a month is a terrible deal including gas, ins, payment, etc. no thanks
