I think you take a rather narrow view of the situation with your comments.  I believe most posters here are bringing attention to the fact that our company has a policy on car allowance that is woefully below the industry standard.  That is something we should all worry about.  It may make a potential good recruit pass on a position with our company.  It may also lead one who is currently working her decide to leave.  Now it won't be THE main factor in the decision, but in the very competitive field that is our industry it is important to at least be in the average on all types of compensation if you want to attract and retain industry leading talent.  Industry leading talent will gravitate toward industry leading compensation.
