Comp for Extremity Reconstruction Sales Specialist?

where is territory- I currently am working there- and have been for a number of years- is it a new territory or developed?
Usually if the rep left or got fired- they would start out a new rep with a 40k base salary and varying commissions on 5 different product catagories(between 5-12 percent commission) with bonus potential but it gets harder and harder as you build more business and the growth expectation is 20-24 percent year over year. They specialize in acquisitions but have managed to fumble the last two with poor planning on managements part to provide sales force with materials to promote the acquired companies products. A year after the last acquisition we are still waiting on updated sell slicks on new products rebranded with Integra Logo.

I worked for Integra for almost 4 years and would not recommend going to work for this company. They have a very poor management group that only looks out for upper level mgmt. The sales reps are not compensated like most device companies. This is a starting point for someone just getting into device. My advice with this company is stay 2 years, get experience, and find something more worth while.

the chicago opening

do they really expect 20-24% growth year over year? that's not an easy task in any mature market. im assuming reps that don't achieve this are canned?

Consistent turnover in Chicago territory. Niche company that is losing its niche. If you cant bring surgeon metal relationships in for immediate business keep looking.

This statement is correct. You will be competing with the "real" ortho companies that already have existing relationships. Extremity used to be set aside from the total joint business but recently the big companies have launched new products and now compete in this space with our niche products.

Best situation always seems to be get a rural territory and stay away from big markets. Very difficult to compete.

The post earlier about sales aids is spot on as well. This company acquires companies, but does nothing to invest in infrastructure to build the business. Yuck.
