Commute advice to Foster City from new employee

Hello - I've just received an offer to work at Gilead in Foster City and will be relocating my family from Houston, TX to (most likely) the Pleasanton area. I know this will be a tremendous change, but am up for it.

Can someone please provide some feedback on the commute either using BART or driving? I'd prefer to drive, but with gas prices out there and traffic, I may have to consider public transit.

This is NOT the forum to ask such questions. It used to be years ago but now it is a malicious place where unchecked egos go after one another and so such offering such information about yourself could expose you to folks in home office. This site is looked down upon by many companies because the gossip is so intense. Having said that, my best advice is to ask people in Foster City those questions and not do so on this thread and please don't take what you read here seriously. Good luck, it's a great company (that part you can take seriously) :)
 






Bart does not run from Pleasanton to Foster City - you will be pretty much forced to drive, there is no public transportation from the East Bay to the Peninsula.

As you must already know, you will be encountering sticker shock big time moving from Houston to Nor Cal. Property taxes will be lower. That being said - Pleasanton is a great community, the weather will be 1000% better than Houston, and hopefully, you will enjoy your work at Gilead.

The commute to Foster City from Pleasanton is about 45mins to 1 hr. Previous poster is correct, BART does not run to Foster City. Pleasanton is a nice town, reasonable home prices and great weather. Only drawback is the commute time. The Peninsula is also a great place to live but the home prices are considerably higher. Best of luck to you.

Hi - I too received an offer to work at Gilead in Foster City and will be commuting from San Jose to Foster City. is there an company employee shuttle bus to and fro from FC. If So, what are the timings and where does it start/end in San Jose?
