CNBC Report

Wouldn't that be interesting as everyone knows to get to quota you put shitty surgeons on the robot. I have even seen ISI reps proctoring cases as their surgeons were so clueless. Hey you think JA and JM would back you up then!

This is such a joke. Herb Greenberg is nothing more than a troll. Get a clue.

Did Herb Greenberg report on anything that was not a fact? From viewing the video, he doesn't say anthing good or bad about the company - neutral. Dr. T gave it a thumbs up, the patients' family stories hurt, the legal suits have been a long time coming. And your former rep did a great job!

Let me get this straight! A company runs an aggressive marketing campaign to target surgeons (this product IS FOR surgeons! AND I believe that the concept of free market and capitalism allow for agressive marketing and companies who market agressively tend to succeed!), the surgeons accepts the training and does what is necessary to gain the skill, the hospitals grant privledges to the surgeons to perform the robotic surgery in their institutions and all of the complications then are the fault of INTUITIVE!? When does the Doctor do a self evaluation in order to say...I need further training, or I do not have skilled hands and I should not do this surgery!? When does the hospital do their evaluations of the "unskilled surgeons" to say: Doctor, you may NOT have the privledge to do this surgery. I dont understand how complications of surgery fall souly on the marketing campaing of the surgeons. How does a Rep, who has not gone to medical school, who has never been trained to perform surgery have the knowledge or ability to evaluate the skill of a surgeon...shouldn't that evaluation be done by other surgeons? Aggressive marketing campaign!? Give me a break! Watch TV...what about the aggressive marketing of a lawyers advertising frivolous lawsuits! I have seen billboards advertising a website: www.whocanisue.com! This is nothing but another ploy to destroy corporate america by atttacking the newest, greatest and most innovative technology the world has ever seen!

My iPhone is still way better technology than the robot.

Pipe down Suzy Robot, everything you are reading is true. Seen it, Done it. The robot is a way for terrible surgeons 20 years behind the curve to attempt to be better at their craft, in reality they are still terrible and just make their craft more expensive and time consuming sometimes with dangerous (and did I mention really expensive) consiquences. The reps are the SOLE entity pushing it.

Question:

Do reps get paid if the robot doesn't dock?

Within the answer to the above question lies the truth.

How can the robot not dock?

If I "Push" you to committ murder, does it mean you are not responsible? No, of course not...my point is that the surgeons have to take some of the blame for complications and may even have to admit that they are not very good at their craft. There is no magic product that will make unskilled surgeons all of a sudden get better at surgery.

"(ISI) internal marketing conflicted with the company’s recommendations that the da Vinci system is for surgeons with “basic and advanced” skills in minimally invasive surgery-- a criterion it used in materials submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to get approval for marketing the robotic devices."

That last part is a killer. The commitments to proper training and surgeon competency that ISI made in order to gain FDA approval, then willfully failed to deliver, could come back to haunt them in a big way.

Whoever that female "former CSR" was in the interview was, she was spot on!! Very accurate description of the culture and environment as well as the referance to the corporate emails quoting the need to get surgeons to "convert". My former CSM (B.K.) and CSD (M.T.) were obsessed with numbers and conversions..... Uh, oh, I mean patients......

I'll be the 1st to admit I cannot stand the arrogance of these bastards... And I found this investigative report to be an accurate depiction of the culture... But, the only thing any of this seems to expose is the failure to accurately report injuries/adverse events/deaths to FDA.

Outside of that, I think every med device company is guilty of the same tactics, pressures, and quota attaining strategies to motivate reps to hit their numbers. This is an industry thing... Not just an ISI thing.

That being said, I hope JA, JM, and all their cronies rot in some court room very soon.

Its one thing to uncover a horrible culture and yet another to discuss how they (ISI) wasn't open and honest with injury rates.

When is someone going to uncover or go public with the fact that a lot of the cases "booked" are fake?
