I'm hearing the Summit offices will be closed....is this true.
It's just the start, most of NJ will be gone in 2 years.
So what remains?
Just a shell in NJ. The only reason they are not closing the Kenilworth plant for good is the tax break they will get to build 125 million dollars structure there. That naturally includes new hires. That is why Merck employees must go through the a new process to get hired. When you negotiate with the state you need to hire xxx number of new employees to get a bigger tax break. That means they have no desire to transfer you. That is not considered a new hire.
Merck is moving the jobs outside the USA and that is clear as day. All departments have failed so why not do it. Merck itself is just a shell of what is was. Why pay 6 figure salaries to R&D when they have not put anything in the pipeline for the last 6 years? Those positions will go to India and China. Just about everything is going generic in 6 months. There is no need to market generics or even retain people sell them. There is a extremely tight margin with generics. To make money you can't pay NJ salaries. Naturally they will keep the CPA's and upper level executives (VP and higher).
