It only makes sense that in time they will reduce the sales force. Probably over the next year weed out the less-productive reps. It makes no sense to keep two complete sales forces. What I don't get is why would CIBA hire so many new reps last year when they knew the Alcon deal was going through. Middle management should worry, sales training should worry. Don't need duplicates in either of those areas.
