They only have about 4 current "outreach" contracts in the whole country. Their VP- Business Development, Mike Kachure just left...he was there 7 years which is a long time in this industry.
It is my understanding they are interviewing for a Natl. Director of Outreach to oversee the outreach sales functions.
After this hire they will probably fill MK's position. They are not known for real competitive salaries.
Having watched this company since it was called Park City Solutions, they are very high on themselves...real high. I don't think their percentage of clients re-upping when contract expire is very high either.
Face it, lab outreach and consulting is not rocket science. Once hospitals have them come in and do all the work, why re- up the contract on ce they show how it's done... Rumor has it that Kathy Murphy- CEO wants to unload the company...if she could find a buyer. I just don't think they have staying power in a declining industry.
Doesn't make them bad people....I just think they have run their course.....
From what I can gather, he had a great opportunity elsewhere meaning a nice financial package offered but I only heard second hand. Also 7 years is a LONG time in one place. Good luck in your meeting (or interview I guess?)
Are they offering a nice incentive comp plan? If not I would be very leery of it. A straight salary gig under 165 I would not touch...Who wants to be pigeon-holed into a position where you don't reap any rewards for revenue growth. If they are not willing to provide even a little piece of equity then I would question their long term intentions in a declining market. Again they do think very highly of themselves, but I wouldn't call it cocky though.
Ask the tough questions. If you think they are dynamic people who really have it going on that's a good sign. My experience ( I have been is this industry over 20 years) is that the Chi folks are anything but dynamic. Boring and very dry may be a better way to put it. Again it doesn't make them bad people, but boring and dry is no good in my book. I would be pulling my hair out early and often. I also think with their people they have on board, they are kind of thought of as Midwest company that may not be able to close deals in all parts of the country.
In a nut-shell, the lab business has evolved to where it's not what it used to be. I saw on one board earlier where someone called lab sales the "dregs" of the medical sales world. I would definitely agree with that.
Good luck and I hope it's a good fit and a good long term career move.
Thanks for the good and honest information. I have my first meeting next week. I am curious about this opportunity but I agree that it seems to be in a "declining" business with so many hospitals already in outreach. I wonder if there are additionaol opportunities to help hospitals with operations etc. Do you know why this guy left? Consulting can but good but I guess it is likely very risky and Im really worried about not being a partial owner in a one-person owned business.
I have to say the CEO seems very intelligent, but doesn't get it. She is very narrow minded and wants everything done her way.
For any consultant I see this being a miserable place to work.
Don't walk away from this one, run...
