Change in Long Term Disability

Novartis is changing the medical insurance for long term disability. As of Jan 1, 2012 anyone on LTD will be put in a different pool for medical insurance. Up until now the rates have been analogous to active employee rates. As of next year it will cost the average person almost $1,000.00/month for medical insurance coverage and twice this for family coverage on LTD. Beware to all should anything happen to you.

Can't wait for the headline !

Healthcare behemoth Novartis cuts healthcare access for it's disabled employees -

I wonder if they treat the swiss in this fashion ?
Lesson is ,
Buy American (including your drugs )

F!

Nutzees must be doing this to save $ and make it costly to those who do the disability masquarade.

Anyone else in agreement?

Other theories out there on why?

Why? because they can. And if they can fk disabled you have to think about the conscience--I mean lack of conscience.

Next they will go after meanopausal women

How do you know this? Did you speak to Deborah Bloodgood?

I am on LTD as I have the big C. I was sent a form letter with a 108 page brochure entitled:

"Post-Employment Medical and Survivor Coverage Plans" (dated January 2011) The form letter states:

"Dear Novartis Long-Term Disability Participant:"

It is simply states that effective July 1 I and my family is being put into a completely different insurance pool. When I called Novartis Benefits Center they beat around the bush (long pause times in getting info on your account); they tell you that the new rates will not be in effect until 2012 and as of yet they have no pricing information. I pushed them and said what if I were in this assigned pool today. They told me that my monthly medical would be $2297.62/month but that the rates will be different in January (higher of course). This is a very bad thing they are doing to us. This is probably the result of some McKinsey consultant having put this into a slide set and saying "yeah sure you can do this to your employees and save money." I am very disillusioned by the management that had to have signed off on this. May they too end up with a terminal illness and have them and their family be thrown to the wolves financially.

When the time comes go to the media & write your congressmen. This is an outrage that needs to be addressed by mass media , blogs etc..
This way all their dirty laundry will be aired once & for all .
Also call all your customers & let them know how this outfit is treating its own disabled employees

Wow unbelievable Jimenez is talking acquisitions & wants to skim every available $ off the backs of all employees , including the backs of disabled employees . That's outrageous.
Anyone affected needs to get your story out there. This action should ban Novartis as a healthcare company in the United States. Totally discredits Novartis.

You will NEVER get Deborah on the phone, email, text, etc. She will NOT call you back either. Or email you back. Spoken from experience!! I have a with file from MD Anderson with a ton of documentation to go over with her, and she will NOT call me back to answer questions.

This almost sounds like fraud...If you pay extra out of each check for the enhanced LTD package ...just in case something happens to you...then they jack up your insurance rate to over 2K per month...basically they are charging you about the same amount of money for insurance as they would "be paying you on your enhanced LTC". That seems a bit fishy...They "honor" the job pay portion, but raise your health care insurance to the amount of what they are paying you on your LTC???? Hummmmm...sounds like fraud.

I would go to the press and get everyone all over this. Novartis will look horrible in the press...I would like to see what our Tier 1 and Tier 2 physicians have to say when they hear about how they take health coverage away from employee when they get ill, or when they raise the rates so high that it's like you are paying full cash for the insurance. Who would want to do business with a company that treats employees like this when they get ill......

I would love to be a fly on the wall of the oncologists that treat novartians on LTD that are now presented with this clusterf* and hear what they have to say about the juxtaposition of oncologic marketing with actual corporate behavior.

TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES !!!

The LTD benefit is 24 months coverage in the event of a tragic illness or accident.
Imagine if you are working & get into a serious car accident , or god forbid get a deadly disease. It general takes between 12-24 Mo for SSI & Medicare to kick in.

Novartis is telling you too bad fuck off & leaving you on your own to suffer & get destroyed financially.

24 months is STANDARD among virtually every industry , not some altruistic charity on
NVS part. Imagine walking up one day with leukemia or a broken spine after getting hit by a car just walking into an office. This supposed health care company will tell you too bad so sad Whether you worked 2 years or 20.

This change not only screws disabled employees now but ALL OF YOU & your families.
It's naive to think nothing will ever happen to you .

Think about how little they value your efforts AND YOUR LIFE . It's sad & disgusting

It also greatly reduces the effective amount the disability insurance we are all paying for will provide should we need it. We will end up having to pay back a very large portion of our benefit for medical insurance each month. This needs to be addressed and made provision for going forward.
