Why is there 3 or 4 Zimmer boys covering cases? Isn't one rep enough?

Many areas, like mine, have embraced micro-specialization given the sheer quantity of products available these days. 4 reps? One for patella, one for the femur, one for the tibia and lastly, a rep at the end that handles the surface selection and insertion.

More reps = less income/rep. Which makes everyone replaceable. Power stays with corporation.

Totally true, we have a rep in our distributorship whose sole job description is selling .125 k-wires. Let me guess, you're still selling 'the whole bag'? The 80's called, they want your job back!

Great jokes but I'm being serious. Why do hospitals allow 3 o 4 reps covering cases? Demand one rep and demand cost savings for eliminate the unneeded reps.
