Car Allowance with Eisai: What a Joke!!! Lets do the math

Lets do the math....$750 car allowance is decent, IF, and I mean IF, it did not include gas. But guess what, Eisai and MOB cant even get a car allowance right. $750 to include gas, haha. Let me do the math. After taxes lets assume you clear $550.
Subtract out $100 for insurance, another $300 for gas, and that is conservative, that leaves you with $150 for a car payment. PLUS all of your maintanence. So unless you own a car outright already, its not even considerable. And even with that, you would still most likely lose money with the maintanence, or at best clear a few bucks each month.

He clearly said that the $750 includes everything - including gas. He may have mispoken (that wouldn't be surprising), but he did say that. The only thing it doesn't cover is parking expenses. Car payment, maintenance, gas, tolls (he said it), insurance - everything. $750 is not a bargain, that's for sure.

It's all a joke and it shows that H.O. is run by a bunch of followers. So, Aciphex is no longer a promotionally-sensitive product b/c of it's maturity? OB backed this up by citing the success AZ has found with Nexium after eliminating field based promotion.. WRONG! The corporate support enjoyed by Nexium is light years away the support shown Aciphex by Eisai. Nexium still has formulary coverage while Aciphex has rarely if ever had good coverage- at best, a third tier copay. Nexium enjoyed clinical trials with 20,000 patients; Aciphex had 2400+/-. Nexium reps were enabled to sell their product, Aciphex reps have always been hobbled with a compliance department that puts expiration dates on clinical studies.

If it isn't worth it to go after additional formulary coverage, why did AZ go after the contracts right up until they ceased field promotion?

Aciphex will drop like a rock, OB will make excuses and they will cite the branded market erosion as justification for another layoff next summer.

Eisia is run by losers!

anyone who thinks this is a good deal must be victims of the new math taught in public schools. OB would love it if you took this deal you'd be subsidizing E. Just do the math if you remember your 8th grade math.

Some cos offer car allowance and a gas card. Others offer one lump sum like Eisai is saying. OB did say on the question segment you can still expense tolls, parking. Not a big deal nut clarifying. Also you get the 100 not taken out of paycheck every month. In onc some of us have smallish territories so the car allowance is probably a good deal.

Gas is not included in the 750. Gas is responsibility of the rep to pay. If no other company includes it how do they expense it? You are not making sense.

I have had two car allowances prior to Eisai. First car allowance $700 a month net, they grossed up to around 980 to net us 700. I also had a gas card. Next car allowance, $750 before taxes, like Eisai, but there I also had a gas card. I have never had to pay for gas out of a car allowance before like Eisai is proposing.

are we really surprised????...this is the same company that can't even get our target lists right after we tell the stupid fuckers that docs are dead, retired or non existent. we sure as hell can not expect the idiots to figure out how to do a car allowance.

this place is run by insane fools on every level.

300 for gas? Try $400 or more! $150 for a car payment? what kind of piece of shit are you driving? You will lose money under this arrangement.

Are you people high??? Most companies have $700 a month car allowance plus milage. Some companies provide the full IRS deduction of 51 cents per mile!!! Others provide a gA card and then lower the milage rate anywhere from 17 to 31 cents a mile. This is the worst deal I've ever heard of in the industry!!!

You Eisai reps are the undesirables. Be happy any company is giving you more than minimum wage.

People, can't you see this for the scheme that it is? The "car allowance" will encourage you not to drive, hence being out in the field less. As this increases, so will the witch hunts to get rid of those not working(not driving, in this case). Another cost cutting measure that kills two birds with one stone. Brilliant!

Agree here. Can you imagine someone calculating what an extra call will cost them in gas? It might save some money but productivity will be down. The plan is not good for the employee or Eisai. Anyone who takes the car allowance offer should be fired for poor fiscal judgement. I say don't kill the plan. Revise it with one that saves Eisai money but does cover gas. These Chrysler cars are killing them in maintenance costs. I would bet that the average vehicle is costing them $900/month plus gas. Add the costs of the vehicle, maintenance, insurance, and rental cars and it is $900 ez. So offer $650 plus a gas card. Leaving things alone is an option.
