Can I post for a promotion while on a contract?

Does anyone know if I can post for a higher level position while currently on a Q contract? The position that I am looking at is non-competitive from a disease state standpoint, it is graded at a much higher level, and I am qualified. However, I have only been on my current contract 6 months and it is not due to expire for a while. Any real input would be appreciated.

Maybe if you grew antlers

No, you cannot go onto another contract while you are on one. If they find out you will be fired and out of quintiles completely. I know someone who did this and he willnever work for Q again

You would need to get your manager's permission, your manager's manager's permission, and then know the people you are interviewing with for the new position and make sure that everyone is A-Okay with you switching contracts. No way to sneak and hide an interview. If the new position is a much better fit with your background and skills and your current contract is willing to give you up, you might have a shot.

Completely wrong. I am a project director here. They could care less if you are the best fit for a position in the history of pharma. The Quintiles job is all about filling position and making contract goals, which a main one is fill percentage. They could really care less about how well you do. It is all about appearances and making the contract stipulations. There is absolutely nothing else to it.
