Can I be fired after I've been told I will be laid off?

Can I be fired after I've been told I will be laid off? I am in HQ, and have a few weeks left.

Can I be fired in that time period and not receive my severance? This is assuming I act normal. I ask because my manager has been pointing out random mistakes by email and am not sure about his end game.

Call HR and complain of a hostile work environment. It will ensure that you are definitely going to be laid off, but if they fire you, you can claim retaliation. This will get you to the end, but you will definitely not be able to keep your job.

If you been notified that you will be laid off think of complaining to HR. That process takes time to unfold and since you put the moron on notice you should have time to cross the goal line and get your severance. Try to have as much documentation as possible ie time and dates and details of the issues. Also if the manager is also harassing others under his command notify the company of that as well. The more complex and issues involved the longer the investigation will last. Hopefully you can get your severance. Good luck!

You are an idiot. People like you should be cut on christmas eve just to make a statement. Also no severance. Make an example out of you so everyone gets the message.
You can document all you want. It does not mean there is any truth to it.

People like you need to be released. You will be living in a dumpster soon. I'm sure you will feel right at home.

No soup for you! Thank you Ken for your comments.

yes, you can be. There was a mgr 8 years ago who was laid off during a down sizing exercise. His reps outed him for falsifying field trip reports and instead he gave the reps NMIPs to keep it quiet. He was not only laid off but got fired and was not able to collect his severance. So yes, contact HR and file something. Just trying to help you out.
