Can a contract company change your territory?

Hello,
I was recently hired by inventive. I was hired to cover the city where I live.
About two months after I was hired, they told me it would now include a city (bigger than the one where I live) three hours away, which will now require overnight travel every other week.
I came from a contract company. It was my understanding that the contracts are very specific and that territories don't get so easily moved around like that.
The Company we are contracted with is paying for a certain number of reps to cover a certain number of territories.
Doesn't inventive have a policy somewhere about this?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've been in contract sales for about four years (two contract companies, three different contracts) and have seen my territory grow and shrink several times. It's never been as drastic as what you're describing, but I wouldn't say that something like this happening is out of the ordinary. It's not unusual for the number of territories to change during the course of a contract.

Yes they sure can! I work here and my territory changed and now includes two more STATES! Total of 3 large states.
So I don't feel sorry for you, buck up.
