Bystolic? Where did this come from?

I know that it was never official, but wasn't nebivolol's brand name going to be Cirmaxen? Where the heck did Bystolic come from?

Also, anyone else concerned that today's approvable letter is going to delay launch by at least 60 days (April 1). I know the launch meeting will continue in January, but let's not expect to be going out the next week and (legally) talking about it with our doctors. So much for all of those appointments and lunches we're setting up for February.

no one ever said anyting about 4/2008

its a manufacturing technicality, not a problem with product

labeling and PI is finalized

bystolic the name b/c likely too similar to another product, bystolic second choice likely, I like it better, systolic, diastolic... bystolic

OK everybody it is time for a review:

14 Beta Blockers plus nebivolol(Generic name)

Acebutolol
Atenolol
Betaxolol
Bisoprolol
Carvedilol
Labetalol
Metoprolol succinate
Metoprolol tartrate
Nadolol
Penbutolol
Pindolol
Propranolol
Propranolol long acting
Timolol

And you thought it was hard bringing the 7th ARB(Benicar) to the market with 6 branded ARBs. I can't wait to sell Bystolic in a BB market with 14 generics already available. By the the way, go to drugstore.com and look up all these generics and look at the price. They all sell for pennies a day. I hope Nebivolol(Bystolic) lowers blood pressure and cures AIDS all at the same time.

A bigger budget....great. Now I have to bring dinner home three nights a week just to spend all this money! I like to grill out but it's hard when the expense department keeps rejecting my receipts from Giant Eagle meat department. Oh well....I'll just drop food at the homeless shelter more often.

How embarrassing, selling a branded beta-blocker in 2008! Do you go to work with the brown bag over your head each day or only wear it on tues/wed/thurs???

Hey at least its a new beta blocker in a 50 year old class...what about the reps who sell Synthroid or other old drugs where generic equivalents have been around for 50 years!

Besides, I don't really see your point...beta blockers are a heterogeneous class. Its not like you can say propranolol = atenolol = carvedilol = nebivolol. They all have varying MOAs, unlike the good ol' "ARB is an ARB is an ARB."
