BYE BYE Merck

Just wanted to tell all of Merck bye and
to kiss my Bayer A$$

LOL! I got news for you Chump! I can see you've never been part of a company that's been sold and absorbed into another.

Here's what's gonna happen; Bayer is going to look for "redundacy's". That's where they already have somebody that does the same job you do. If the guy at Bayer that does what you do is liked, you're toast. If he isn't liked, well, maybe you'll survive. But you'll always be a second class citizen. You'll be "One of those asshole Merck-offs we got stuck with."

See, Merck didn't have consumer before they bought SP, so most SP consumer people were carried over. Bayer has someone who does what you do. Enjoy your severance.

Spot on. The best case scenario for any MCC folks is if they are asked to post for their position. Anyone in an in-house role better get looking like, yesterday. Yes, you too Mr. Finance superstar douche bag.

Don't assume that you automatically have a job. I've seen situations where the employees of the company that was bought were told by the purchasing company "You must apply to us for your job."

And, not everybody that applied for their job was hired by the company that bought their former company.

Ill chance it rather than work for FU Merck.

Is not. If you worked for him you would happy. He protects us. We don't fear for our jobs. He is not a manager either. More of him would help this company.

So there. I wrote it

What make you think they will keep you? You will be the new SP employees.

haha

I was never a Merck employee but someone in my family is. Due to the unstable situation at Merck these days, I keep a close eye on this board. During my 32 year long career at a large corporation, I was involved in two separate acquisitions. With the first acquisition, my employer acquired a smaller head to head competitor. When the two organizations physically merged, two camps of employees appeared, much like what happened with SGP and Merck. There was a lot of mistrust and suspicion between the two groups which never fully went away although it did subside quite a bit after many years. There were many people laid off after the acquisition, but not all of the people laid off were from the acquired company. That said, I would say that the majority of people let go were from the other company, not mine.

Years later, my company was bought by another. And that's the reason why I'm now retired. (I still work, I have a "retirement job" that pays me 12 bucks an hour) I can remember a conversation I had with my boss at the time we were taken over. He was not my boss at the time of the first merger I was part of. His words were "I don't know what's happening. Jack (his boss) says he's just trying to adapt to his new manager's ways of doing things, and he hasn't been very forthcoming at all with regard to any discussions of who might stay and who might go. Jack says we're all in the same boat when it comes to keeping our jobs, his own job included." I always thought of Jack as a straight shooter so I believed what my boss told me. Jack got to keep his job. My boss and I, and the rest of the department were let go. I had enough time with the company to retire so that's what I did.

But for the first few months after the merger, prior to me retiring, the working environment was exactly like the first take over. They hated us, and we hated them. But they took US over, and that's the key to it all. Those that are bought usually come out on the short end of the stick. Not in every employee's case, but the vast majority of the Merck folks will probably be let go, while the Bayer folks will stay. That sucks, but that's what typically happens. I wish no one any ill will. Good luck and God Bless to all of you affected by the sale to Bayer.
