Business Model?

What are some common CPT codes for testing in this business? What are the call points? Is there competition besides Ameritox and Millenium? ARUP? LabCorp? Quest?

It seems that simply farming out the toxiocology and pain management testing from Hospital laboratories would be quite cumbersome for the Lab Director....anyone here have experience in this?

Lastly, what are the clinician call points? Is there opportunity calling on Hem/Oncs or other speciality clinician groups?

The CPT codes are irrelevant. Just because you bill for something do not mean that you will ever get paid.

Some hospitals do farm out their business. A few universities can do their own LC/MS testing, as can a few large physician groups.

The big call points are in pain management, and addiction medicine.

The issue here is declining reimbursements! Government cuts, Medicaid dont pay, HMOs wont pay and patients do not want to pay.

Who will pay for senior management salaries? Nobody!

The leanest, lowest-cost company will win beause low cost rules with a commodity product.

And the reason no one wants to pay for this testing is because it doesn't change or influence a physician's practice. It is delusional to think that testing will decrease prescription drug abuse. Insurance companies study outcomes and the evidence to support their stance.
