Boys, your days are numbered.

Their is a war being waged from the left on men and Gene is gonna do their part to fix everything. Brace yourself, there's going to be adjustments. Notice the onslaught of female hires? It's only gonna get worse.

Gender diversity has been a hot topic in the life sciences community this year. A now-infamous cocktail party held during January’s J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco helped highlight the gender gap: LifeSci Advisors received a spate of bad press for hiring scantily clad cocktail waitresses to entertain party-goers — explaining that otherwise, the crowd would have been overwhelmingly male.

Some companies are trying to improve opportunities for women. Mary Glanville, a human resources vice president at Regulus Therapeutics, said the company has “wholeheartedly tried to recruit females for the board, and it has been really, really tough.”

In 2009 at the time of Roche acquiring GNE, the % of women in Director or above positions in the company was 9%. Now, it's slightly over 50. Ian himself shared this news from a Town Hall. As a man, it's hard to not to the math on Director position hiring over the last 5 years to see how incredibly one-sided hiring had to be to get to that ratio.

Overall a good thing but it's hard not to feel like some reverse discrimination had to be going on (intentionally or not) and that there are clearly some underqualified leaders now in roles.

Would you get over yourself? This is one of the best companies to work for regardless of age, race, gender, or sexual orientation. They have been this way and will continue to do the right thing. In the end, the hire the best candidate.

Ahem, DNA HR led by the lesbians I presume?

Look it really sucks to by disdained and discriminated while male in the 40's at DNA with its welcome mat for women, Hispanic, Black, gay/lesbian to S4/D1 and up positions. DNA also has bastions on Chinese and Indian silos where whites of both sexes are discriminated.

Funny the bosses in Basel don't practice what they exhort to the DNA minions about to go thru gut wrenching RIF where the white males will take the blunt of the hits.

This is a good place to work even for white males -- but it's a great place to work if you are female, not white, or lgbt. We rarely hire the best candidate for a position. Usually a solid candidate. But not the best one.
