Bonus question…how many referrals?

I recently got an offer from a local home health agency. The salary is very low (30’s) and income is set up so that you make the majority of your money in commission. I’m actually fine with that pay structure, but want a better idea what I’m getting into. On average, how many referrals do you guys get out there in a month? And how many referrals does your company want you to bring in? Thanks for replies!

Do your homework!!!! See how many home health agencies are out there in your market. Find out how your agency is run, and how they are perceived in the medical community. Look at recent turnover at your agency..if it's high be very careful. Pay in the 30's is very, very low. Most agencies set your quota a little high so you will be stressed 24/7 over making bonus. If your thinking of going to work for Amedisys...RUN!!!!! They are horrible to work for. Good luck!

I wouldn't take 30's salary unless desperate. You should make min. 45-60K, plus bonus. Plus car allowance or good reiumbursement, etc.... I have to get 10 a month, which is low, but hard to get.. we are a small agency, but very good reputation- Home Health Elite, etc. Some agencies require 30 a month (bigger national companies) also look at your budget- mine is 3-500 a month, They will let me spend money on big programs if ROI is there. You need a budget. this is much more competitive than pharma sales, with less of the budget. If you are just out of college, 30's sound good, well, go for it... just know that is not the going rate. Also, know that they will sell you on the commissions (I can make 30K) but it is very hard to obtain... ask if you get paid on Medicare only- (I do) or all referrals, - it is hard - good luck
