Boise State jumps to the Big East

Kind of a strange cross-country marriage on that one. Boise State must have picked up some decent pocket change on that agreement. Houston, SMU, Central Florida and San Diego State will join too. West Virginia, Pitt and Syracuse are current members and most likely will involuntarily stay on for another year or two before they opt out for the ACC. Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers, Cinncinnati and USF are committed members.

But since it is an east coast conference Boise should get the recognition that it deserves and there will be no more justification or flimsy excuses from the phony decision makers who have slighted Boise in past when it comes to a place in the BCS bowls. In the last 5 years Boise has been 72-6 with TWO BCS victories. I think the decision makers got pissed that a relatively small, unknown school could compete with the big dogs - so they just started to intentionally and unfairly shove them aside. Now that they are part of the Big East the phony decision makers won't be able to do it as easily.

The question remains whether Coach Petersen can put together another nationally ranked team in 2012-13 with Kellen and several other key seniors graduating. I don't think it will be the same Boise team that they have today - but I've been wrong before and the Coach may surprise me. No doubt the Boise coaches be able to recruit some good quality ball players with their consistent solid reputation though.

Go Broncos! :D

Congrats to Boise State for joining a better Conference than the Mountain West! I still think the Big 12 needs to man up and give Boise an invitation. It would be much more of a natural fit. Boise will definitely get a shot at a BCS Bowl Bid now. We still need 4 major 16 team conferences and a Plus One to make things more fair across the country. The SEC is all in favor for a plus one model and maybe, just maybe the Big 12 will be in favor of a Plus One.

I would shut out Notre Dame completely until they join a conference.

I read today that Fat Charlie Weis just got hired by U of Kansas as the head coach after doing one year stints as offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs and U of Florida (6-6). Kansas seems to think that Fat Charlie can turn their football program around. :) I wonder if they conferred with Notre Dame's athletic department prior to making their decision? You gotta hand it to Fat Charlie tho. The man keeps landing on his feet after each failed gig. He must be the world's greatest salesman.

ND has improved since the days of Fat Charlie. Relatively speaking Brian Kelly turned in a pretty decent season this year after a slow start - although losing to most of the big name teams - Michigan, USC, Stanford..... ND would have a hard time cutting mustard in a good conference. But I noticed ND got some good recruits coming on board in 2012. Maybe we'll see a ND team that does justice to their football tradition in a couple more years.

I had high hopes for Fat Charlie at UF.....well, for about 10 minutes. Either his offensive plan sucked or Brantley just plain sucked. Either way, now BOTH are gone! Go Gators!

Silver tongued Charlie must have a line that could charm the birds right out of the trees. He convinced ND to give him a 10-year contract. Sporting News reported that ND owed him $18M when the fired him with 6 years remaining on that contract. Then he got a job as offensive coordinator @ KC Chiefs then as Offensive Coordinator @ U of Florida and now as head coach @ U of Kansas. I'm surprised that UCLA didn't bring him on. When he loses his job @ Kansas Obama should hire him as his public relations director on economic policy.

Why does Kansas like fat football coaches? Remember how grotesque Mangino was? Kansas must like the fatties??!!
