Kind of a strange cross-country marriage on that one. Boise State must have picked up some decent pocket change on that agreement. Houston, SMU, Central Florida and San Diego State will join too. West Virginia, Pitt and Syracuse are current members and most likely will involuntarily stay on for another year or two before they opt out for the ACC. Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers, Cinncinnati and USF are committed members.
But since it is an east coast conference Boise should get the recognition that it deserves and there will be no more justification or flimsy excuses from the phony decision makers who have slighted Boise in past when it comes to a place in the BCS bowls. In the last 5 years Boise has been 72-6 with TWO BCS victories. I think the decision makers got pissed that a relatively small, unknown school could compete with the big dogs - so they just started to intentionally and unfairly shove them aside. Now that they are part of the Big East the phony decision makers won't be able to do it as easily.
The question remains whether Coach Petersen can put together another nationally ranked team in 2012-13 with Kellen and several other key seniors graduating. I don't think it will be the same Boise team that they have today - but I've been wrong before and the Coach may surprise me. No doubt the Boise coaches be able to recruit some good quality ball players with their consistent solid reputation though.
Go Broncos!
