Blue Card

How is your lab getting around this ?????

The only way to "get around" it is to convince each Blues plan that your services are medically necessary AND unavailable from any of their currently contracted labs. You don't do that, you aren't going to be in-network.

Speaking as the eprsonat one of those Blues plans that's hearing from dozens of you labs, I can say that I'm turning away all of you, as I have yet to see any lab offering necessary testing that can't be offered by LabCorp, Quest, Myriad, and Genomic Health combined.

Why do you think we started enforcing that BlueCard rule in the first place? We were sick of labs doing unnecessary, expensive testing and never having to justify their behavior to us as the Plan (and members) that ultimately had to pay your bills.

It's a brave new world - best to go find employment with a lab that knows how to justify its value to the payers...

So is your life so fucking dull that all you do is troll around these boards posting the same, lame bullshit on all of them? What a LOSER!!

Thanks for telling the truth. Labs are run totallly with concern for the patient and totally without conscience. It's all about earning an extra buck. Take CSI Labs, for instance, they are going to 10 color flow (that may be a good idea for limiteds only) and leaving behind 8 color which was just FINE!! Why? Because of their reckless spending a gross stupidity, they are in financial pain. So they want to squeeze patients, private insurance, medicaid and medicare to pay for their lifestyle. And for the idiot's previous response to your post, I say troll away. As an insurance rep, you have a right to keep an eye on those who would break your bank to improve their bottom lines, all the time the services they render are not only unnecessary but, generally, more and more flawed.

Aw, thanks! I think I might just do that!

10 color is not going to make a lab much more revenue - more marketing in my opinion - maybe CSI should call PLUS and see how well it works?
