Bloomberg Lilly, Novo Diabetes Drugs Drew Renewed Scrutiny On Possible Cancer Links

It looks like the safety review for Lyxumia will be much more rigorous than initially expected. R&D has been very hush hush on the safety profile of Lyxumia so far. With all of the side effects and cancer risks reported for the GLP's on the market, it will be interesting to see if Lyxumia will be significantly delayed or if it turns out to be another rimonabant. There is one point we can all agree on, this is not going to be a blockbuster.

No it doesn't look good for this New Drug if it is going to follow on the coat tails of those from Lilly and Novo. Another unforseen circumstance might be around the corner. But the diabetes unit is in much better shape than CV. We're dying out here and the SS CV Lustania is heading into unknown waters where hostile submarines and floating mines are plentiful. I've got my life persever on though and looking out as far ahead as possible for the sight of land. Good luck to all!

People, all drugs have side effects. Even legal drugs like cigarettes and alcohol. Even today Aspirin would have had a tough time getting through the FDA process. The scare of cancer is real regardless of if you take a drug, work in a coal mine, work in a car shop, work in a dry cleaner shop, work in a nuclear facility, work as a firefighter, work as a NASCAR pit-crew member, have AID's, drink alcohol, smoke, sunbath, don't use sunscreen, are a plumber, deal with asbestos, etc. Don't let these individuals stop advancement in medicine. They are the first to want the product when it comes out or works for the company to fatten their wallets. We need this advancement and yes, some individuals will have that very small side effect resulting in cancer. But if you are one of the 60% plus obese individuals in the US, ask yourself what matters most. Losing weight and seeing you situation improve and everything else falls in place or being scared about a very rare form of cancer that affects less than 1% of population? You have a better chance of getting t-boned at an intersection tomorrow- Those are odds I would take in Vegas.
PS- Remember, you won't be carrying the casket when it is time.
