Biomet SET President resigns

Any truth that the Biomet SET President left and is now at Zimmer? Seems a strange move, but sometimes you "gotta do what you gotta do". Big loss for Biomet, gain for Zimmer. Hope he can tolerate the Z culture!

As president of a division, seems he will be in a position to begin a culture change, that is, if the culture is not winning and needs changing.

Sports medicine, extremities and trauma..... With help from a trusted few, Nolan built the Biomet sports medicine division. His greatest talent is sales. Nice steal.

Biggest mistake of his career, he will profoundly regret his decision to join Zimmer. He sounds like a great guy but he will likely quit or be fired within two years. Zimmer is a complete mess, really bad decision.

Great guy, but what did he do? Biomet Sports, or whatever they call it now is still a minor player, trauma was horrible and I'm sure is still an uphill battle with the newly acquired Depuy Trauma, and Extremities is doing well, but is more of a market reflection. Biomet was last to the reverse market, so by the time they came out with something, it was really 2nd generation (great system, but the big boys are all reloading.)

Guess it's either too soon to tell, or no one really gives a damn.

Won't be long before his NCA with Biomet begins expiring. He will begin building Zimmer sports med, like he did at Biomet. Look for him to assume lead on products and then on bringing his stalwarts over from Biomet, once the nonsolicitation portion of his NCA expires. Surgeons will follow....

If you are at Zimmer and sports med interests you, look to join this division sometime in the fall. DN is a good dude.

DN is a joke. Which surgeons will follow? Oh, and last time I checked, Biomet Sports has 4% market share. This really isn't the guy you hired to build a sports med program?

Zimmer has the resources to to make a dent in the sports med biz via acquisition, marketing/sales agreements etc. It could be a good way to boost up their total knee #'s as well. I doubt DN was brought to ZMH so DD could ignore this division. Aren't they Ft. Wayne buds?

Did Biomet truly put solid resources into their sports med/trauma biz? Or were they coasting on the hip/knee biz? 4% market share does not sound bad when hips/knees is around 10% with considerable investment and effort over the years.

I have been wondering why Zimmer would bring Nolan over in a power position. The recent comment on this thread about he and DD being Ft Wayne buds would explain. Any truth to this comment?

Well, I guess the old saying is true, "It's not what you know..........." This very common factoid is responsible for so many execs failing. Positions are gained thru personal relationships rather than hard work. What a shame!
