Biomet going down the tubes in Europe

Biomet in Europe has announced the impending closure of its formerly showpiece manufacturing facility in Swindon, England. 220 jobs will go on top of 90 already announced for the UK.

"Biomet UK Ltd. has recently been subject to a much reduced production requirement due to the world wide recession. Production needs have continued to decline, which caused the
recent redundancies at both UK sites. Consequently Biomet is left with significant
overcapacity globally.

This is particularly true of our UK operations, whose whole future has been under review. It
has become clear that it is no longer possible to maintain two separate operational sites in
the UK. Following a thorough and considered review, it is with deep regret that we must
announce a proposal to cease manufacturing in our production facility in Swindon."

I'm hearing that valuable employees from various departments in the UK have for some time been and are continuing to desert the sinking ship. In the meanwhile watch out for job losses closer to home as the specter of excess capacity starts to take its toll elsewhere.

Well, therein lies the crux of the situation. When Biomet runs out of job cut options in Europe as a result of the boom at Biomet China coupled with global decrease in demand and pressure on pricing it will have no option but to cut jobs in the US.

Biomet - bringing job losses to your neighborhood some time soon.

Thank your president. Why would you think that a business would not act in it's own best interest?

Of course, Biomets new consortium group thinking only about excessive profit margins. No loyalty to the USA or its own team members and you wonder why Biomet is losing money, positive public opinion.....purely greed. Get Binder and his team of followers out of there.
