Best companies for newbies in sales?

What companies are happy to hire someone in their 20's who has little to no sales experience? 4 years in the industry though...

That being asked, which companies that hire newbies are BEST for us?

Find another industry?
Dude, this industry is in decline. Fewer jobs and less pay.
If I was in my 20's I'm looking for an industry with a future, not medical

True.
No need to get into the medical sales field, across all sectors.
You are also going to met so many losers, with the biggest egos and full of shit attitudes in this industry.

Try insurance sales. Seriously.

To break in you will need to most likely work for a contract sales organization like eVentiv. I have been in the industry 16 years and I agree with the previous posters - things are in a down sizing mode. This is not a time to get started in pharma.

DO NOT i repeat DO NOT do anything in medical sales. I have been in sales for 6 years. 1st year I did copier sales then I did medical. out of the 5 years I have been in medical sales I have gone through 3 lay offs. I am trying to get out, you can have my spot. not worth it. This industry is over, go talk talk to any dr thats been practicing for at least 10 years. They will tell you the same thing.

Couldn't agree more about staying away from this industry if you can. If you are interested in the field, why not go back to school for your PA license?
I am a long-time pharma and med device rep, also a distributor now. Things are different these days with reimbursement on DME and surgical, worsening health plans and higher deductibles/out-of-pockets, hospitals cutting costs, using used implants, etc. This will only worsen.
I would recommend going in to pharma, saving as much money as you can for several years and then doing something you are more passionate about! Pharma jobs come with a lot of perks (car, expenses), and you can prob make around 90-100k as a new rep if you are performing.

Best of luck.

Terrible advice.
Contract companies are the companies that WANT experience these days. pre 2000, you were correct. even pre 2010. But, now, if you don't have a solid 3-5 years of pharmaceuticals, you are not considered.

OP, you have to get with a bigger company, because these companies like to abuse their employees with long hours and low pay.

My advice to you is to find something you are passionate about. If that happens to be pharmaceutical sales, then network with all your alumni and ask them if you can take them out to lunch to discuss this business. If you can do it, do a field ride with them.

its not an easy business, when done correctly. however, we have about 80-90 percent of sales people that don't do this job correctly, so pick a good mentor and go from there.

also, you will meet the biggest turds on this planet in this industry, so I would not recommend it. If you can find a company where the management is mostly men, then you will be in a good situation.

the women have ruined our industry for too many reasons to list. but, the biggest reason is because they are lazy and they gossip a lot.

good luck!

25+ years in, and above posters are correct. Look for another field, this one is past prime and heading downhill. Big pharma ruined it. Some of us close to retirement are hanging in there, and I am lucky enough to be with one of the few good, ethical, niche companies left, but I wouldn't recommend it to young people. Good luck.

Are you kidding me??
You actually wrote this?
"the women have ruined our industry for too many reasons to list. but, the biggest reason is because they are lazy and they gossip a lot."

YOUR industry?
You have what we women call "male rep
inferiority complex"
Damn fool

you wanted the truth, but you can't handle it. this was a predominately male industry when it was respected. it is no longer respected because of whorish women who don't work hard.

Dude. You need to come out of the closet. This is some textbook closeted homosexual behavior. Yikes.

That or take a time machine back to 1960 where you can live in the closet. But coming out will be better for you and the poor women who have to work with you.

Look up projection…that is what you are doing. We know who the real homosexual is (you). I am just a hard working man…and you, the simp homo.

Actually a great career if you don't stay a field rep. Bust your butt, be successfuland get promoted to manager, then market access. Currently calling on National Accounts (ESI, Humana, Cigna, United) making 190,000 base plus 20% bonus target.
