Bausch & Lomb is now being shopped around for a buyer.

CooperVision would be a good fit for the right price.

To ward off this potential threat at a merger of Cooper and B&L J&J is likely trying to find a way to be a spoiler of this happening. To do this they will have to buy the solution business and let someone else buy the contact lens business. Or they could buy both.

Anyone else in the mix. Merck maybe. or someone completely new like Google Health or Amazon consumer products.

J&J was interested 3 years ago but Valeant outbid by $2B. All divisions are in much worse shape now. Valeant will sell B+L off with a loss of +$4B.
