Got a call from a recruiter on an expansion territory due to the purchase of Lutonix. Any insight on the opportunity and comp plan would be appreciated. I know there is a component of compensation based on growth, is there any other commission based on sales from dollar one or is it only growth year over year? Thanks.

Right, well Lutonix won't be selling US balloon for another two years so it might be tough to hit that growth.

Could be a gold mine down the road, though.

The recruiter is lying to you.

The expansion has nothing to do with Lutonix. IF lutonix is approved it won't be for at least another 2 years.

They can't even get the drug to stick to the balloon in bench top testing, but I digress.

This position is due to the sales force split into arterial and venous business units.

You can bet your ass that the existing rep in the territory figured out which division they wanted to be in and bulked the hell out of the new expansion territories products before the split. This way the current rep gets paid on all the growth, and whoever joins the company is stuck with that base of business.

This is a great entry level medical device job. You will be micromanaged and treated like crap, and will make $140K in your training year. The next year you can blow it out and make $250K or more, but expect a hangover the next year and make $130K.
