Bard Biosurgery - Arista

Just got a call from a recruiter about this position. Selling Arista, a hemostat sealant they just bought. Is this a good place to be? How much are reps making? Is Bard a good company to work for?

Floseal does not own the market anymore. We knocked out 75% of their business in our territory. ARISTA is a phenomenal product and, if you know what you're doing and the competition (ie Floseal), it's an easy win. Unfortunately there are others like Arista coming to market because the patent was weak. The ones I've seen are impressive and better. I hope you took the job because by now you should be making in the upwards of 150k if not 200k.

Agree, Arista is one of the best products I have ever been associated with. The issue at Bard is they don't like to contract and pay. Most reps are making 20-30k under their target and is why they are leaving the company.

come on...serious?? Floseal is around $180 M and Arista around $45 M. Floseal still owns the market today. Can Arista take some more market share...sure, but far from being the market leader.

It all boils down to culture. If you want to be micro managed from the top and have a sale director that operates on intimidation of the sales team, sign up today. There is no doubt that Arista has only scratched the surface but you need a company that stands behind the product. Don't let all the talk and lack of action confuse you.

Arista is the leading hemostat in the world. Bard does not pay though and intimidation is an understatement. If you are entry level, this is a great job selling the best product you will likely ever get to sell. It is a grand slam. Cut your teeth at Bard, make some great relationships and start to look for your next job about year 2.5. You can take your skills and network with you to a place that will appreciate you. BTW, not many direct jobs at this level paying 150K. Trust me. I have been doing this for a few decades. And, I am very very intimate with Arista.

When Medafor distributors sold Arista, it doubled in sales every year. When bard got a hold of it.... well. When it comes to safety, efficacy, ease of use. Floseal cannot hold a candle to Arista and every floseal rep knows it. What is a better question is how much is the FS business growing or better yet declining? That tells you the quality of the product. Arista grew at nearly 50% a year every year up until the merger in a market that grew maybe 10%!

Then there are existing broad reaching contracts. If Bard does not have them, you won't do much. In the new world, its all about contracts. And, I heard Bard is dropping a major GPO contract so that advantage is about to end. Not good news for reps who's hospitals buy from that GPO On a clinical level, A good rep with Arista will eat the FS reps lunch and they know it. You get paid on growth, not on market share anyway.

Anyone who knows what they are talking about understands that Arista and Floseal do not matchup. Floseal is used to stop bleeding and Arista is used to absorb blood, two totally diff approaches
